Clancy's – Oughterard, Co. Galway

Situated on Camp Street in the heart of Oughterard, Clancy's is a traditional Connemara pub that reflects the warm hospitality for which this gateway to the west is famous. With its welcoming atmosphere and strong connection to the local community, it has quickly become a gathering place for residents, anglers, walkers and visitors exploring the beauty of nearby Lough Corrib and Connemara.

The pub reopened in April 2025 under its new name, following the purchase of the former Lydon's Bar by Rory Clancy in January 2025. After an extensive refurbishment, the premises officially reopened as Clancy's on 11 April 2025, beginning a new chapter in the story of this well-known Oughterard pub.

Oughterard has long been an important market town and stopping point on the route between Galway City and Connemara. Its rich history is closely linked with the nearby medieval Aughnanure Castle and the powerful O'Flaherty clan, who shaped much of the region's past. Today, the town remains one of Ireland's best-known destinations for salmon and trout fishing and serves as a gateway to the spectacular landscapes of Connemara.

Clancy's continues the proud tradition of the Irish village pub — a place where locals gather, visitors receive a genuine Connemara welcome, and stories of fishing, music and community life are shared over a pint.

A fitting stop while exploring one of Galway's most beautiful regions.
