Back to the Louth Coast again (it's only about 5 kms away!)

This time, I followed a trip to Salterstown pier with a pint at The Glyde Inn Annagassan - if you've not been....well...you should👌. And afterwards I took the short stroll with my sketch pad and camera down to the port at Visit Annagassan.

Ports, piers and harbours are fascinating - the history of coming and going through fair weather and foul. Indeed, the Vikings themselves landed here around the same time they arrived in Dublin.

There were no Vikings lurking when I visited a few weeks back - just these three beauties relaxing in the sun beside the pier. Imagine the stories associated with these boats! The harbour entrance and the pier are just down behind them.

No. 5 in my series of Louth Seascapes.

PLEASE NOTE AND SHARE: Louth County Council has implemented a temporary, clockwork one-way system at Salterstown to alleviate severe traffic congestion and gridlock, particularly at peak swimming and tide times. The Route drivers are directed to follow a circular route to keep the narrow coastal roads moving. Approach: Turn in from the Annagassan / Togher road (often via the cross). To Exit: Follow the signs to exit out at the fork, completing a clockwise loop.

Local lady Niamh Osborne is hosting a fundraising quiz and raffle in the Glyde Inn next Friday, 29th May at 9pm. This is in aid of a charity called SERVE that provides outreach programmes both in Ireland and abroad in conjunction with the Presentation Sisters. Niamh will be travelling to the Philippines in July to carry out aid work for a community there called the Badjao. Support for the table quiz event would be greatly appreciated.
