National Ploughing Championships 2026 🌾

A huge well done to all the Roscommon competitors who have competed so far at the National Ploughing Championships. You have all represented Roscommon with great pride and acquitted yourselves with distinction. 👏💚

Well done to Oisín Connolly on a fantastic 3rd place finish! 👏
A brilliant achievement for both competitors and a great reflection of the hard work, dedication and talent within Roscommon Ploughing.

🇮🇪🚜 5-Nation Challenge – Day 1 Update! 🚜

A fantastic first day for our two Republic of Ireland contestants at the 5-Nation Challenge, taking place alongside the National Ploughing Championships at Screggan, Tullamore!

👏 Lorcan Bergin, Co. Tipperary, representing the South Tipperary Ploughing Association, competed in the Conventional 2-Furrow Class.

👏 Garry Ireland, Co. Kilkenny, representing the Kilkenny Ploughing Association, competed in the Reversible Class.

Both contestants performed excellently today, showcasing their skill, precision and dedication. 🚜🇮🇪

With another day of ploughing tomorrow, they will have the opportunity to repeat today's outstanding performances. The final decision now rests with the judges, who will assess the competitors' work over both days.

Wishing Lorcan and Garry continued success, the very best of luck for tomorrow, and every good wish as they await the judges' final decision! ☘️🇮🇪

🇦🇺 Wishing Kenneth Hanley & Eireann the very best of luck as they head off to Australia! 🇦🇺

From all of us in Roscommon Ploughing Association, we wish our valued member Kenneth Hanley and his beautiful girlfriend Eireann every happiness as they begin this exciting new chapter together. ❤️

Kenneth, you’ve been a fantastic and committed member in your first year with us, and we’re delighted to have you on board. With your family hosting our 2026 Championships, it’s been a very special year for the Hanleys and the Association.

We hope you enjoyed your farewell celebrations in Dalton’s and wish you both safe travels, plenty of adventures and wonderful memories along the way. ☘️

And Kenneth, don’t forget… Australia has ploughing competitions too! 🚜🇦🇺

🌾 Best wishes to all our competitors from Roscommon Ploughing! 🚜🐴

As the National Ploughing Championships get underway over the next three days, we would like to wish all our fantastic competitors the very best of luck.

To our tractor, loy and horse ploughing competitors, we hope you have an enjoyable and successful few days. Safe travelling to everyone heading to the championships, and may the furrows be straight and the weather kind! ☘️

We are incredibly proud of our competitors and delighted to see Roscommon so well represented on the national stage. Our county has a wonderful ploughing tradition, built on generations of skill, dedication, friendship and a love of the land.

As Martina Beirne, NPA Director for Roscommon, so beautifully said in the Farmers Journal: “For me, ploughing isn't just about the furrow in the ground, it's about the people standing beside it.”

That spirit is what makes ploughing so special. ❤️

🇮🇪 Wishing the Republic of Ireland contestants the very best of luck in the 5-Nation Challenge, being held alongside the National Ploughing Championships at Screggan, Tullamore, on 15–16 September.

🚜 Lorcan Bergin, Co. Tipperary, representing the South Tipperary Ploughing Association, will compete in the Conventional 2-Furrow Class.

🚜 Garry Ireland, Co. Kilkenny, representing the Kilkenny Ploughing Association will compete in the Reversible Class.

They will compete alongside contestants representing Northern Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales.

🐂 Celebrating Roscommon’s ancient heritage!

A fantastic new landmark has arrived at Rathcroghan Visitor Centre in Tulsk — a striking sculpture representing Finnbennach, the legendary White Bull of Connacht.

Rathcroghan is steeped in archaeology, mythology and history, and this wonderful addition helps bring those ancient stories to life while showcasing the rich heritage of our county. 💚

It’s great to see projects like this helping to promote Tulsk, Rathcroghan and County Roscommon as a destination for visitors and locals alike.

Well worth a visit — and another reason to be proud of the heritage on our doorstep! 👏

Congratulations Jer! 🚜🏆

A huge congratulations to Jer Coakley, one of Ireland’s leading reversible ploughing competitors on winning his fourth European Reversible Ploughing Championship title in Switzerland.

A fantastic achievement and a great honour for the West Cork Ploughing Association. 👏
