Last week we visited a new pastry place in the centre of our beautiful Zadar. L'Orchidee is a new pastry place with high quality pastries made with nothing else but subprime ingredients. The owner and the pastry master Teuta is a local inspired by the amazing french receipts. She and her husband have created a beautiful oasis that reminds us of Paris itself.

Where did we go last week? Can you guess?
To Split!!! This wonderful city is celebrating its protector today st. Duje.
The city is most famous for the Diocletians palace that was build for the Roman emperor in 305 CE. The city developed through various cultures that ruled it. From the Italians-Republic of Venice, Turks-the Ottoman empire, Austrians- the Habsburg empire. This allowed it to become into one of the most important trading cities in the Mediterranean. Today Split is the second biggest city in Croatia located on the eastern shore of the Adriatic sea.

Check it out!!! Microherbs!!!
These Microherbs share an amazing story.
It all started i 1903 when Jakob Solina and his wife Terezija started growing their garden with lots of love. They transferred their passion to their children and their children passed it on to their kids. Creating a family tradition of growing microherbs.
Even today the tradition still lives on and we were so honoured to have witnessed first hand this amazing tradition.

Dubrovnik is placed on the far south of Croatia. This allowed him to develop into one of the biggest trading centres in Europe from 14th -17th century. For most of the history it was under the Italian influence but with its amazing diplomacy skills it blossomed even under their reign. It is the most famous place in Croatia and one of the top 10 destinations in Europe. With its breathtaking architecture, gorgeous nature and clear blue sea it attracts tourists from all over the world.
Also, did you know that Dubrovnik was the first one to acknowledge independence of the United States of America?!
Fun fact: Game of thrones and Star Wars were filmed in Dubrovnik!

Kremsnita!! Last week we visited Samobor , a small city next to Zagreb, that is famous for its one and only cakes Kremsnita! This is a delicious special that was brought to us by Duro Lukacic in between the two World Wars. Influenced by the Habsburg family, Austrian ruler family that ruled Croatia in between the World War, this culinary special spread all around Croatia. Habsburg family was one of the biggest influencer in the modernisation, culture, architecture in Croatia.

Did you know that Kabaj wine also known as Coral wine spends 6-7months on 20 m sea depth? This gives the wine its special taste that you can not find anywhere else. We had the pleasure of tasting it and we loved it.

Last Saturday we had the pleasure to visit Zadar Wine Festival. We were thrilled to see so many people and their beautiful creation. We were genuinely surprised to see the new Rose that Croatia has to offer. With its light pink colour and gourgeous rich aroma it takes you to another world.

We would like to thank the team behind the whole event for its professionalism and most kind welcome.
