«Ανελθέτω η καρδία ημών εις τα άνω»
(δηλαδή στον Θεό και στα ουράνια).

Ο Όσιος Αθανάσιος ο Μετεωρίτης υπήρξε ο ιδρυτής της Μονής Μεταμορφώσεως (Μεγάλο Μετέωρο) τον 14ο αιώνα, και θεωρείται ο οργανωτής του κοινοβιακού μοναχισμού στα Μετέωρα.

Here we see the Campanula andrewsii climbing in a magical, almost theatrical way, the rampart walls of the ancient theatre of Delphi.

In the following photos, our favourite mustard (Sinapis Alba) joins the triangular stones that were carving the construction of the monumental entrances of the dozens of treasures of the cities present in the sacred oracle of Delphi.

Here where Apollo was speaking to Pithia and nature was stunned by the toxic gases of the subsoil.

Cercis siliquastrum is one of the most beautiful trees of the Greek countryside and traditionally the beginning of its flowering marked the beginning of the spring season.

Today, full of tender little leaves, seeds from last year and new flowers, it decorates the gardens of Greece’s most important museum, the National Archaeological Museum (EAM) located in the centre of Athens.

This is one of the nine elegant capitals of the marble Ionic columns that formed the monopteral Temple of Rome and Augustus.

This small Ionic temple, constructed from Pentelic marble, was located approximately 23 meters east of the Parthenon on the Acropolis of Athens. It was built in the late 1st century BC, after 27 BC, when Octavian had taken the title of Augustus.

The temple was likely constructed to honor Rome and Augustus, serving as a symbol of Roman power and an attempt by the Athenians to improve relations with Rome during a period of tension. As a monopteral structure, it featured nine Ionic columns without an interior wall.

I have never expected to see and captures the most photographed highlight, of famous Samaria gorge "empty from visitors" at the end of touristic July.

But even when it is full of people, the gorge is always able to "ground" you, back between the plates.

Ὅσιος Λουκᾶς (Osios Loukas)
Christian Orthodox monasteries were always places for "hard working hands and souls".

The historical monastery of Osios Loukas, one of the most important monuments of the Middle Byzantine period, and an "encyclopedia of Byzantine architecture and art", is situated near the town of Distomo, Boeotia.

This UNESCO world monument is well hidden, in between the mountains of Central Greece, preserving it's spirituality and character.

And that's also the reason we take occasion, by visiting this remote place, to talk about the Christian Orthodox religion in the past and today, to explain the Byzantine cultural heritage and it's connection with todays Greece and to reach, by discussing and questioning, the more philosophical ideas of this centuries old religion.

Dionysus was the god of fertility and wine. Later he was considered also patron of the arts.

He created wine and spread the art of viticulture. He had a dual nature: on the one hand he brought joy and divine ecstasy, on the other he would bring brutal and blinding rage, reflecting the dual nature of wine.

Somewhere around the wineries and in the vineyards of modern Nemea, it's not impossible to meet god Dionysos.

I am sure he will offer you a wine tasting tour or a guided visit in ancient Nemea.
Never say no to such an offer! 😉
