Music Spoken Here is a project set up in 2022 to support exceptional live music in the West Midlands area, with a focus on modern jazz fusions, funk, soul and world music. We showcase exceptional artists and bands from around the country with events every other Thursday at The Marrs Bar in Worcester city centre. Our program has included established artists such as Yolanda Charles, Jason Rebello, P

aul & Jeremy Stacey, Alex Hitchcock, Paul Booth, Ryan Quigley and younger artists such as Tom Ford, Corrie Dick, Dan Lockheart, Rosie Frater-Taylor. We've also had two of the last 8 Young Drummer of the Year winners (Nathan Shingler & Tom Potter) and three-time finalist Zoe Pascal. Instead we operate a 'pay-what-you-can' on the door model, with the suggested contribution of ยฃ10-15 for most events. We also offer Club Membership, which includes entry to all our shows for just ยฃ18 per month.

"As successful as the series has been, one still canโ€™t help feeling that a city the size of Worcester should be capable of providing even bigger crowds than this. As a regular attendee at MSH events for the last three years Iโ€™ve witnessed some exceptional music and also made a lot of new friends in the process. Itโ€™s a great series and I do hope that it will be able to continue long into the future โ€“ but it does need increased support from the city of Worcester and the wider area for that to happen and I do hope more people can be persuaded to come along and get behind it. That said the local print media have really got behind MSH and given the series every support, so itโ€™s up to the local public to respond and help keep it going." - Ian Mann on TheJazzMann.com

Released on Thursday (arrived Friday morning), the new GoPro Mission 1 goes beyond the Hero action camera that we've been using for the last couple of years. With a bigger sensor (great for low light situations), faster GPU, shooting up to 8K (great for post-production cropping while keeping definition) and longer battery life (no need to change batteries during the interval), while keeping the same small, unobtrusive form factor, it gives us a lot more flexibility for recording high quality live performances with interesting on-stage angles, along with the main, full stage shot on the Canon EOS R50 camera.

Audio is recorded separately on a Zoom H5 (room mics and FoH stereo mix) and our sound guy Willis can also do a full mix from the live stems.

Huge thanks to everyone who made it down to our 4th Anniversary celebration at The Marrs Bar last night for two fantastic sets from Tomorrow's New Quartet, which I thoroughly enjoyed! More queues for CDs at the merch table again, which is always great to see.

We're back on Thursday 11th June with Music Spoken Here presents V6 Organ Trio, a brand new outfit featuring Arran Shanghavi (from Detroitwich Funk Machine) on keys, Jamie McLeish on guitar and Jonno Hilliam on drums.
