Wilmslow SciBar

Wilmslow SciBar The chance to hear about and discuss science while enjoying a glass of your favourite tipple. Everyone at all three bars is passionate about beer.

About SciBar:

SciBars are informal discussions about science over a pint of beer, glass of wine or cappuccino in a pub or bar. An expert delivers a short introduction to a topic and then a discussion ensues – it’s your regular pub debate, just a bit more organised. You don’t have to be an expert, any level of question is welcomed – this is an opportunity to learn more about a topic that sparks yo

ur interest. SciBars are open to everyone and are free (except for what you spend on drink or food). The SciBar idea came from the British Science Association and are set up and run by local volunteers. Everyone is welcome although lucky people under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The Venue:

Opened March 2014, The Old Dancer is a sister bar of The Treacle Tap in Macclesfield, and The Young Pretender in Congleton. The current count has 7 BII qualified cellar managers on the staff! We have 10 keg fonts of European / craft beers, and 5 continually rotating handpulls on the bar, as well as real cider on draft and fridges rammed with bottled beers from all over the world. You know what they say about real ale... it takes a lot of effort to get it right, so if a bar takes this much effort over its ale, the chances are it will put a lot of effort into everything else... and they do.
