Every workplace project begins with getting to know your people. Through interviews and workshops, we spark conversations and immerse ourselves in the distinct needs of your team, mapping out how your business operates today and where it wants to go next.

We also look closely at how your space is really used, from desk occupation and space efficiency to the benefits of collaboration spaces and breakout areas.

As our Design Manager, Sally Gilliland, puts it: “We strive to understand how our clients’ businesses tick, the needs of their team, and how we can use this to enhance the design and build process.”

The result is a workplace shaped around the people who use it.

A former all-hands space. Now a high-performing business asset.

A major part of the brief for Pentland Brands at Johnson Gardens, was about unlocking more value from their existing real estate. We transformed their former Town Hall, previously a single-purpose open space, into an enclosed, flexible presentation and corporate hospitality environment.

Multiple configurations now allow it to accommodate product launches, training sessions, presentations, client events and company-wide gatherings.

Functions that once meant hiring an external venue can now happen in-house, reducing costs while creating a more seamless, distinctly Pentland experience for employees, clients and visitors.

Our team is gearing up for a winter of fundraising!

James Barton, Sophie Hall, Sally Gilliland & Chris Burton will be taking on the first of two challenges over the coming months, the Surrey 3 Peaks Challenge on the 7th November - a test of stamina across some of the South’s highest points. The route runs for around 23 miles along the North Downs Way and the Greensand Way, with more than 1,000 metres of climbing.

This is to support our charity of the year - The Sussex Snowdrop Trust who provide Children's Community Nurses who care for children with life-threatening illnesses in their own homes across Sussex.

We look forward to sharing more from the team embarking on this fantastic challenge!

From an empty floor to a three-floor headquarters, this is how Ryan Specialty's new home at 25 Fenchurch Avenue took shape.

The 36 week timelapse shows the coordination behind the 45,000 sq ft relocation including the bespoke staircase that now connects floors 3 and 4 and the illuminated stretch ceilings that bring the feel of natural daylight to deep floor plates.

Our team combined workplace strategy, data collection and spatial design to create a workplace that reflects Ryan Specialty's professional credibility, brand identity and growth ambitions. Read the project in full on our website:👇

With hybrid and hot-desking now the norm, the old idea of 'everyone has a desk with a drawer' no longer applies.

Personal lockers, mobile pedestals, and shared storage zones have become essential for employees who don't have a fixed spot in the office, giving people a secure place for their belongings, wherever they choose to sit that day.

Good storage design reduces clutter, protects sensitive documents and equipment, supports a calmer and more focused environment, and can even play a part in your sustainability goals… keeping materials in use for longer, cutting down on unnecessary purchasing, and supports a more circular approach to your workplace.

We design bespoke storage and security solutions tailored to how your business actually works, whether that's supporting hybrid teams, safeguarding confidential information, or simply making better use of your space.

Colour is one of many design choices we make when a space needs to work harder. It's never applied by accident or personal preference, but chosen to match how a team actually works, and the brand behind it.

For our client Motorway, their vibrant brand yellow runs throughout their Brighton office, and on the 8th floor that vibrancy takes on a different life, a space that can section off or open right up into a large town hall area. The space can section off or open right up into a large town hall area, and its real highlight is a specially commissioned mural by local illustrator Laurie Avon, bringing bold, original colour that ensures the environment still feels unmistakably "Motorway."

Colour isn't a finishing touch here… but a deliberate design choice that reinforces the company's culture and values, and gives employees a workplace they love to come into.

Raymond James's building sits within the Guildhall Conservation Area in the City of London and holds Grade II listed status, so before any design work began, understanding the heritage of the building had to come first.

That meant retaining and refurbishing period features like the original Juliet windows, rather than working around them. It meant new meeting rooms designed with feature wall panelling that enhances the building's original details, instead of competing with them. And it meant introducing crittal glazing to bring a modern edge to the space, without ever losing sight of the architecture it sits within.

The result is a workplace that's bright, modern and functional, while still telling the story of the building it's part of.

That balance, we think, is what heritage-led design should look like.

☀️This summer’s heatwave has raised a question a lot of businesses would rather not have to ask... is our workplace actually fit for the climate we now live in?

Many teams have been told to work from home this summer, simply because their offices can't cope. No adequate cooling, poor ventilation, glass-heavy buildings turning into greenhouses by midday. It's an uncomfortable reminder that "unprecedented" weather is becoming a lot more precedented, and that office design hasn't always kept pace.

It's not just heat we need to design for. UK winters still bring cold conditions, a workplace that's only built to cope with one extreme isn't really solving the problem, all it’s doing is just moving it six months down the line.

A well-designed, well-conditioned office keeps teams in the building, all year round… focused and comfortable, whatever the forecast is.

If this summer has got you thinking about how your own workplace copes with extreme weather, we'd be happy to have a conversation.

Delivering a harmonious design across several floors is no small task.
How to design a workplace that feels connected across multiple floors?

For FNZ's 30,000 sq ft office at 20 West Register Street, Edinburgh, our focus was on harmoniously linking every floor. This meant incorporating the FNZ brand look and feel, with striking black and white, and softer woods and highlights of yellow across all floors.

We gave each space its own purpose - a challenge we approached through considered zoning, consistent brand cues, and a central space, a large breakout and teapoint area on the middle floor, that ties the whole office together.

Delivered in just 12 weeks this is a workplace that feels genuinely connected from top to bottom. Read our case study in full on our website in the comments 👇
