This Yellow Legged Asian Hornet awareness week 7th-13th September, pause and listen to the buzz. Ivy is flowering and it’s a perfect place to spot our pollinators. Here are some images I took when I had a brief look this morning. Honeybees, bumblebees, ivy mining bees, hover flies, flies, wasps and more, are all busy buzzing about. Ivy flowers are also a perfect place to spot Yellow Legged Asian Hornets if they are in the area. Take a few minutes to stop and observe. If you think you’ve seen YLAH then take a photo and upload it to Asian Hornet Watch app, or send it to the National Bee Unit, or your local beekeeper to identify. Most of us are verifiers in our local areas. Sadly if this non native species isn’t stopped, we won’t hear the buzz for much longer…
