Warmer, beautiful, longer days = more exploring & catching rays. ☀️

Country pub trips, dog walks and bike rides…everything feels so much better now the sunshine has arrived.

Bring on the adventures & Thatch meet ups! With the Castleman Trailway right on our doorstep, there are miles and miles to explore and our delicious spring menu (or traditional roast on Sundays) is waiting for you. ☀️

Spring menu additions are here! 🍴🌱🙌🏼

🍴Smoked Haddock Cakes (Starter or main option)

Panko-breaded smoked haddock cakes with chilli & spring onion, and a dill tartare sauce. A light dish with just the right balance of smokiness & freshness.

🍴Lamb Rump (Main)

Pan-roasted Dorset lamb rump topped with a lavender and rosemary crumb, served with fondant potato, spring greens, and a rich redcurrant jus. This is a premium spring dish with deep, comforting flavours.

🍴Pork Loin (Main)

Chargrilled Duroc pork loin steak, served with bubble & squeak, broccoli, Dorset scrumpy apple compote, and a garden sage jus. A hearty, flavourful main with a beautiful balance of savoury and sweet elements.

We are proud to be supporting local farming. All of our meat is locally reared and is of the highest quality.

Goodbye 🎃…Hello 🎅🏼

The moment you’ve all been waiting for is here!
Tickets launch on our website at midnight tonight for all things Christmas-related! 🎄🥂🍻

We love our beautiful thatched pub all year round, but Christmas at The Thatch is admittedly the most magical season of all. 🎄 From stories by the fire with Mrs Claus and wreath making sessions in the snug, to our fun-filled Bear Island Christmas events with & reindeer; we are unbelievably excited about the entire Christmas period this year.

It’s official!!🤩🤩

Last week at this years Dorset Tourism, we eagerly sat and awaited as we would finally find out if we were to win this years “Pub of the Year” or if we’d fall short another year and settle for silver… 🏆

But we’re the Old Thatch and we’re always striving to be the best we and ya know what? It paid off…😱

We won. Gold. First place. Officially best pub in Dorset! 🥇

We’d like to thank everyone who visits us, we do what we do because of you and we can’t thank you enough. We also can’t thank the staff enough for all their hard work, they make The Old Thatch what it is so to our General Manager Aimee, Head Chef Ben and all their teams, thank you for everything! 🙏🏻

Et voila…the little surprise! Welcome Old Green to my favourite cosy part of the store. 🌿

We’ve proudly been a stockist of this beautiful local brand since we opened in 2021, but the opportunity arose to have them feature as a pop-up this autumn/winter and I’m so happy we’ve made it happen. Welcome to The Old Thatch Wimborne , Tori! I don’t think there could be a better little home for all of your handmade, sustainable treasures right now…perfectly suited to these rustic, 17th Century surroundings…and set amongst all of our other beautiful Dorset-made items. Looking forward to what will hopefully be a wonderful few months ahead!

Thank you, Teachers! These beautiful locally handmade candles by made their way into the store in Rocksalt & Driftwood and Rosewood & Velvet. 80g - 20hr burn - £7 each & we only have 25 of them 🤍 Aren’t they gorgeous!
