With deepest sympathy, we share the passing of Peter Pearce.

His wife, Vas, would like to say goodbye and share her heartfelt thanks to Peter for 53 wonderful years together, including 51 years of marriage. She remembers a life filled with love, kindness and everyday joy.

Peter and Vas opened The Wild Goose shoe shop on Church Street in 1995, a place they loved so much it became their home. Vas, who had worked as a radiographer, stepped away from her medical career to build the shop alongside Peter. Together, they created something truly special, full of warmth and character.

Peter was one of the original founders of the Church Street Association, leaving behind a quiet but powerful legacy of kindness and community spirit. He was gentle, strong-minded, and deeply supportive of those around him. A constant presence in the local community, Peter gave his time generously, never seeking recognition, but always offering help, thoughtfulness and care.

Vas would also like to share details of Peter’s memorial. He was deeply loved and appreciated by neighbours, friends and the wider community.

Funeral Service
Date: Wednesday 20th May
Time: 11:00am
Venue: St Mary's Twickenham

The funeral is being arranged by Church Street traders, with support from White Rose Modern Funerals and flowers from The Bloomery. A reception will follow at Eel Pie.

There will be a procession along Church Street prior to the service, beginning before 11:00am on Wednesday 20th May.
