You'd be forgiven for thinking this was somewhere far more exotic than the UK, but actually, it's just good ol' North Wales! 🏖️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
Alongside the mountains, the lakes and the forests, Eryri also boast fabulous beaches where you can relax and sunbathe, or splash and play to your heart's content!

Planning on going to the beach this Summer? 🏖 In North Wales, and especially in Eryri, tidal ranges are massive, and can catch you unawares if you are unfamiliar with the area 🌊
This is especially good to know on beaches where you can park your car, such as Black Rock Sands.
It's a surprisingly regular occurrence to hear about yet another car that has been swallowed by the tide, no doubt ruining an otherwise wonderful holiday... 😭🤦‍♀️
We usually recommend that you download a Tide app before you come away, so you can keep an eye on the water levels when going to the beach ( Note that Tide times change daily, and height changes with the lunar cycle, so they vary day to day, week to week). If you arrive at low tide it can be easy to assume that there is always that much sand at the beach - but don't be fooled!!
The Met Office have now also added tidal info to their app, making it even easier to get this info; helping you to stay safe and dry, no matter where you go ☺️👌

It fair to say that to get the most out of a walking trip to North Wales (and to be able to check out all the places you won't see the influencers banging on about on IG or TikTok!), you need to be handy with an Ordnance Survey Map. Need to brush up on your Map Reading skills though? Check out the video (link in the comments on the original post).

Well would you ever! 😮The legendary Anthony Hopkins was in Dolgellau (just 10 mins down the road from the Cabin) this past week! He's currently filming a new feature film based on a short story by Dylan Thomas and (given who the author is) unsurprisingly, it is set in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

The film is based on a Dylan Thomas story called 'A Visit to Grandpa’s', a whimsical, heart stirring tale of a boy’s summer spent with his eccentric grandfather:

"When a lonely boy is sent to spend the summer with his wildly eccentric grandfather in the countryside, he expects boredom but finds magic instead. Grandpa is nothing like he imagined: impulsive, outrageous, and full of mysterious stories that blur fact and fantasy. As the days stretch on, mischief turns to meaning, and their unexpected bond becomes a lifeline for them both. This is a funny and deeply moving journey through memory, imagination and the strange magic of family."

It sounds like Sir A is the perfect casting for this role. I can't wait to see it! 😀👌

The mighty Yr Wyddfa ( the mountain formerly known as Snowdon) seen from the south (& viewed from a special, secret location- Shhh 🤫😁 Actually, tbh it's not all that secret if you know the area but still, it's a place that it better without crowds, so no, I won't tell you where it is! 😅)

Anyway, on with the post! It's Springtime folks! 🌱 and so we're now really heading into the kind of days that make you feel truly grateful to be alive!

We all need a bit more fresh air in our lungs and sand between our toes; the sound of waves crashing and the sight of a truly humungous slab of rock to remind us of our place in the world. Whilst some of you will feel the need to 'conquer' the mountain, others will prefer to sit in quiet reflection and consider our relative place in this world... and neither is better than the other. They are just different. Variety is what makes this world special. And in Eryri, you can have these 2 experiences back to back, or even simultaneously, if you wish! ✨️

Well would you look at that! 👀🥳😀🙌

According to search engines "the average occupancy rate typically falls between 48% and 60%, though it is highly dependent on location, seasonality, and property type. A "good" occupancy rate is generally considered to be between 60% and 70%, with top-performing listings achieving higher percentages through peak seasons"

As you can see our Annual occupancy data absolutely smashes not only the average, but also the high performing listings!! AND this booking platform data doesn't even take into account the nights which are booked through us direct, which raises this number even further!

We're already getting full over the next few months, right up to September, so if you do want to book, get in touch with us sooner rather than later with your preferred dates! And remember that booking with us direct saves you money on the additional fees charged by 3rd parties (usually 15- 20% on top of our standard rate)☺️👌

We spent a lovely hour watching the fantastic Batala Bermo (and friends) on Barmouth Beach on Saturday evening. After we parked up, we walked through town looking for the meet up location and it felt a bit like we were in Jumanji... with the sound of distant drumming in the distance! 😁
Seeing a large troupe of people drum in unison is such a fabulous experience - the sound was amazing and the energy was super high! They played as the light faded and as they did their drums lit up- adding an extra dimension to the performance! ✨️ Next time you are in the area, check out their page to see if they are performing- and make sure to go & check them out ( or even go to ine if their workshops and try your hand at Batala yourself!) - you won't be disappointed! 😁👌🥁
