Save Our Local

Save Our Local Informing the community on the current pre planning submission and any future planning applications regarding the local pub.

31/10/2014

The Cornish Times is running the story on their front page today.

Headlined "Ambitious Inn Plan" the piece quotes Punch Taverns as commenting "The enquiry is in the early stages with the council about the betterment of the land, which includes retaining the current facilities including a pub."

It seems the Punch PR department are repositioning their approach in light of local response to the original Pre Application in which "pub" was conspicuous by its absence.

So not necessarily a bad thing perhaps - someone's taking notice.

Will the inclusion of a "pub element" in any revised plans for the "betterment of the land" justify a major residential development in the heart of the village and the demolition of a valued heritage building?

Does "retaining the current facilities" include the existing premises, adequate car parking and access to the views we know and love?

Time will tell.

Many thanks to Gary Alford for these!

As you may have noticed the Pre Planning Application that was published on the Cornwall Council planning site has been taken down.

Apparently the reason for this is that it was published in error in the first place!?

It seems a "commercially sensitive" pre application can be undertaken behind closed doors at the applicants request / the council's discretion so unfortunately this hasn't gone away, it's just not in the public interest for us to access it any more.

Stable doors and bolting horses spring to mind ...

Hi All - and thanks for your support.

This page was created with the sole intention of generating awareness in the local community and to ensure that as many people as possible with an interest in our local pub (and the village as a whole) had access to a public domain pre planning application relating to it.

The information here reached some 1200 people (according to FB) and nearly 500 clicked, liked or shared it on day one - so it seems to have done its job.

Moving forwards - if this page has a role, it will be to keep everybody up to date if the application progresses or as more reliable information becomes available so that as many of us as possible are in the loop and can respond appropriately.

Please note that pages are, by nature, public spaces and that posts / comments added here will be visible publicly.

With this in mind although comments are open to all, posting new topics is currently restricted (this can always be revised depending on how we all feel about it) to ensure that the content here remains as relevant and accurate as possible.

So for the time being if you have new views to air or information to share here you can email [email protected] or send a private message (just click the Message button on the cover photo above).
