We’re backing the campaign to reduce VAT for hospitality from 20% to 10% 👍🥂

Right now, the UK has one of the highest hospitality VAT rates in Europe. Every meal out, pint, coffee, hotel stay or event ticket comes with 20% VAT attached.

Compare that to:
- Germany: 7%
- France: 10%
- Spain: 10%
- Italy: 10%

So when people ask why hospitality is under so much pressure, this is a huge part of the answer. UK venues are trying to absorb rising costs while paying far more VAT than many of our European neighbours. UKHospitality’s campaign says 10% is fair for hospitality, bringing the UK closer in line with countries such as France, Spain, Italy and Germany.

A lower VAT rate helps protect pubs, restaurants, cafés, hotels, bars, nightclubs, festivals and the local jobs that come with them. When venues close, communities lose more than places to eat and drink. They lose meeting spots, first jobs, local character, high street footfall and places where people come together.

Ideal for early risers, dog walkers, and those on the school run, it’s a space to pause, refuel, or ease into the day at your own pace.

Happy International Women’s Day 2026 from all of us at East Street Pub Company 💐

As an independent, family-run group, we feel incredibly lucky to work alongside so many brilliant women across our venues, including The Yacht, VIVA, Harbour Inn, Hyde Dendy, Street Golf, Ye Olde Jolly Sailor, Queen Vic, King William, The Bell Inn and Twelve Twenty.

From our waiters, chefs, front of house teams and marketing team, to our supervisors, managers and general managers, the women across ESPC play such a huge part in keeping our venues welcoming, hardworking, lively and full of personality!

Today is about celebrating the amazing women already helping shape ESPC, while also continuing to champion opportunities, support and growth for women across hospitality 💛

VIVA went into full lockdown on Monday as all our ESPC sites came together for our annual Christmas party 🎄✨

A night to celebrate an incredible 2025 across our venues and, most importantly, to say a huge thank you to the team who make it all happen!

From site dance offs to all out party games, the race for the G.O.A.T title (greatest of all time) was a competitive one. It ended in a four way deadlock, before a game of rock paper scissors crowned the as this year’s champions 🏆👏

Thank you to everyone who brought the energy, the laughs and the unbeatable competitive spirit! What a night.

Last night marked a brilliant Christmas Quiz at The Bell Inn, and a fitting way to round off the year at East Street Pub Company!

Alongside the quiz, the evening included bingo and Pop The Bell, creating a lively, welcoming atmosphere that brought both familiar faces and new guests through the doors. It was especially nice to see a first-time visitor take home the bingo win, and to watch Pop The Bell reach an impressive final prize total 🥳

A big thank you to Ollie and Jordan for hosting the evening so professionally, and to the team at The Bell Inn for delivering another great community-led event. Congratulations also to our best dressed winners, who fully embraced the festive spirit too!
