There's a lot of emotion on the page currently, it's beautiful to see the love and kindness from around the world for our Pony Pals Family. So many people who genuinely care, and who have joined our adventures for so long!

This new little duo are finding their groove, slowly but surely a partnership is forming. We got back from a successful morning Showjumping with Bluey and Verity took the opportunity to pop Molly around the little course we have up at home with the grids, my goodness they absolutely flew round, every time they have another go it's better and stronger than the last. I'm so excited for the next chapter, I'm not a mare person but I can't help but have a soft spot for this girl. She has come into our lives and settled in beautifully, she is keen to learn and is enjoying all.the fun of being a child's pony!

A much more productive day today, a day of something for sure! Verity and Blue had a blast Showjumping, Oliver went to the military museum to see some tanks, and then we built the new chicken coop! (Built in the loosest term as it still needs felting and the other bits putting on, but at least it's in the right place now 🤪)

There is one more special event for these guys in 2 weeks time, they have a very exciting Bridle-less clinic to attend in half term, before Blue settles into his winter holiday :)
The plan is currently to then bring him back into work in the spring ready to do a little racing next year, but it is all fluid. I'm hoping Oliver will take up the reins but he isn't a winter rider, he doesn't like getting cold and shows zero commitment to the love of ponies, usually only hitching a ride simply to save his own little legs.
Blue deserves his down time, leaving me one to focus on fitness wise, one to have clipped out, one for Verity to channel her riding into, especially with the evenings drawing in and the joys of the winter weather, having one in work is manageable :)

The best way to end this little duo's competitive adventure, a 4th place in their last class together!
Why is the 4th the best? Because it proves to Verity that Blue is ready for her to move on, he isn't her guaranteed red rosette machine and now the jumps are higher he is struggling, so he is inviting her to move on and make that step up.
A very important time for this pair, they blitzed through their first two classes with 2 first places, and then a cheeky pole in the bigger class led to the 4th place.

Well we finally got round to getting the beautiful new rug and headcollar out, Verity looks like a Road Worker but hey ho, let's go, off we go Showjumping!

A day of nothing!
I was so excited for today, a day with simple plans and lots of jobs to get through but it became a day of nothing. And now that nothing was achieved, it all gets nudged over to tomorrow that was already set to be a day of something!
I wanted to make use of the sunshine and get those beautiful photos I know we are all eagerly awaiting to see the new rug and headcollar, but time was so limited at the farm this morning I didn't even get the fields poo picked! And when I finally made it back this evening it rained! Tomorrow Verity and her unicorn are Showjumping so we can get some lovely photos then.
The small animals didn't get their weekly deep clean, partly as they were meant to be moving into a lovely new house extension in their enclosure, by evicting the chickens who were due for an upgrade. But, we spent a good few hours preparing the ground and building a new chicken house only to realise that it just doesn't quite fit where it was intended to go, so now it needs to be dismantled and re built tomorrow in a new area! If anyone has tried to build a chicken coop with children "helping" then you can imagine my pain, and my desire to run to the hills screaming rather than attempt it again tomorrow afternoon 😭😂
Oh but the children went bowling this morning, that's surely productive I hear you say! Oliver absolutely hated it and ended up being taken out to watch the ice skating with a milkshake instead. It's hard to be mad at the boy when he was trying so hard but the noise was just too much for him. It was meant to be a treat, so we had our own mini treat and left the cousins with granny to finish their game. I think Dave was struggling too as he came out as the champion and didn't realise he was meant to gutter a couple of bowling balls and let the kids win 😂
Day of nothing complete, time for w**e and chocolate, tomorrow will be a day of something!

Poles, poles, poles, it's all we need right now.
Raised poles, close together poles, hill poles, they are all set up around the fields, we even have a set that has been placed in the gap between the electric fencing giving them the option to get a self service set in and encourage more movement by having the field divided with the cut through.
Movement is a beautiful thing to encourage, and something that Molly can be working on even when I'm not there. 24hr turn out is so beneficial, especially through the colder months keeping them moving around and heads down naturally, despite the evenings drawing in our little pony is working around the clock getting her steps in, her environment is encouraging her muscles to work and helping her shred a few pounds.
Shetlands, and many other native ponies struggle with obesity, Molly isn't too bad compared to some others that I have seen. It's an easy thing to creep up on them but very hard to get off, and it's quite dangerous especially with the current changes in the grass, I like to keep my guys a little on the trim side.
