🎥 The most chaotic 2 runs you’ll ever see… 🤣🏏

Church Eaton needed 120 to win.

We were cruising at 118-2…
Dan Smith was on 48*
Jordan Talbot had made a brilliant 36

After calmly knocking off 80+ runs together, surely the last 2 runs would be simple?

Absolutely not. Village cricket had other ideas.

Jordan, being the kind teammate he is, started dotting up so Smithy could get his 50 to win the game. Then suddenly the final 2 runs turned into a full-blown Test match pressure situation.

Smithy spent about 3 overs trying to launch one into the next village, swinging out of his boots but not quite connecting. Then came the moment…

A drive in the air…
Dropped one-handed at extra cover…
Smithy calls for two…
Jordan wants absolutely none of it…
Both batters end up at the same end…
Jordan run out.

Proper village. 🤣

Thankfully, Smithy did get his 50 just 4 balls later — after nearly being caught again!

Never in doubt… sort of. 😅

🏏 1ST XI OFF THE MARK IN DIVISION 3! 🏏

A brilliant result for the lads today as Church Eaton 1st XI picked up their first win of the season in Division 3, beating Longton CC 2nd XI by 8 wickets at The Glebelands.

After restricting Longton to 119/9, Eaton chased it down calmly, finishing on 120/2, with Dan Smith leading the way with an unbeaten 50.

🏏⚽ BIG WEEK AHEAD AT CHURCH EATON CC! ⚽🏏

We’ve got a packed few days coming up at The Glebelands with junior cricket, senior fixtures, Knights cricket, World Cup football and the bar open across the week! 🍻

It all starts on Friday night with our Mini Knights from 5:45pm, All Stars Cricket from 6:00pm, and the bar open from 5:45pm. We’ll also be showing Canada v Bosnia-Herzegovina live in the bar from 8:00pm.

On Saturday, our 1st XI are at home against Longton CC 2nd XI as they look for their first win of the season, while the 2nd XI travel to Ashcombe Park looking to build on last week’s win. The bar will then be open for Qatar v Switzerland from 8:00pm.

Sunday sees more junior and development cricket, before a huge Tuesday night as the Church Eaton Knights host Priorslee CC Midweek XI at 6:30pm, looking to cement their place at the top after winning their first four games. The bar opens from 5:30pm, with France v Senegal live from 8:00pm.

Then on Wednesday night, let’s make it a big one at the club! Our U13s are at home to Forton CC from 6:30pm, the bar opens from 6:00pm, and we’ll be showing:

🌍⚽ CHURCH EATON CC WORLD CUP 2026 SWEEPSTAKE – ROUND 1 MINI-GAMES! ⚽🌍

The sweepstake draw is done, the teams have been handed out, and now the fun begins!
As well as the main prizes for the overall tournament winners, we’ll be running a few Round 1 mini-games to keep everyone involved — even if you’ve drawn one of the so-called “weaker” sides!
So don’t worry if you haven’t pulled one of the favourites… your team might still bring you glory, chaos, embarrassment, or a bar voucher! 🍻

🧤 Leaky Defence Award
For the team that concedes the most goals during Round 1.
A prize for whoever has drawn the side that gets absolutely peppered!

🟨🟥 Dirty Dogs Award
For the team with the worst disciplinary record in Round 1.
Yellow card = 1 point
Red card = 3 points
The more chaos, the better!

😱 Against All Odds Award
For the biggest shock result of Round 1.
If your underdog pulls off a famous win, you could be in the prizes.

⚽ Goal Rush Award
For the team involved in the highest-scoring match of Round 1.
Even if your team loses 5-3, there could still be something to celebrate!

🎁 Round 1 prizes will be small bar prizes/vouchers, with the main sweepstake prizes still up for grabs:
🥇 Winner – £100
🥈 Runner-up – £50
🤬 Worst disciplinary record after the group stage – £10 bar voucher

We’ll also be running more mini-games and fun prizes throughout the tournament, so keep an eye on the updates after every round.

🏏 FANTASY CRICKET LEAGUE – WEEK 7 UPDATE! 🏏

Another huge week of action in the Church Eaton CC Fantasy League and the race for glory is really starting to heat up! 🔥

📈 The MVP standings continue to tighten with some big performances across the club this weekend.

⭐ Team of the Week has been announced after another fantastic round of fixtures, with several players producing match-winning performances for their fantasy managers.

😬 Meanwhile, there were a few costly performances too, proving once again that fantasy cricket can be a cruel game!

A dramatic moment under the Church Eaton evening sun tonight as Ollie Rowlands’ bat sadly decided it had played its last shot… splitting straight across the grain mid-innings. 🪦🏏

Ollie is now left emotionally wounded, technically bat-less, and wondering whether duct tape is accepted under the Laws of Cricket.

So, … any chance you can help a village cricket hero out and get him back swinging again? 👀

⚔️ KNIGHTS GO TOP! ⚔️

What a night at Church Eaton as the Knights beat previously top-of-the-table Forton CC by 6 wickets to move to the summit of the East Shropshire Mid-Week League Division 1! 🏏

Forton batted first and were bowled out for 88, with the Knights putting in a superb team bowling performance.

🔥 Pick of the bowlers:
Archie Wilkes – 3 wickets for 22
With wickets also for Hoggie, Westy, Oli Rowlands, Matt Burslem & Harvey Sidwell.

In reply, Church Eaton chased it down in just 12.5 overs, finishing on 90/4.

The Church Eaton Knights are back under the lights this evening as we welcome Forton CC to Church Eaton.

It’s a big one — top-of-the-table Forton come to town, so the lads would love plenty of support on the boundary! 🙌
