In Memory of David Wootton — Lady OH ❤️
There are some posts you never expect to have to write.
It is with enormous sadness that we acknowledge the passing of David Wootton — Lady Ophelia Hole, or simply Lady OH to most of us.
David’s connection with the Infinity name goes right back to the beginning. He founded the original Infinity Showbar in 2020 and, despite everything COVID threw at the hospitality industry, created something that became incredibly important to Southend — particularly its LGBT+ community.
Infinity wasn’t simply somewhere to have a drink. David helped make it somewhere people felt safe, accepted and able to be themselves.
When the original Showbar closed in April 2025 on Alexandra Street, David and Craig started a new chapter together with Infinity Southend. David later stepped away from the business, while Infinity continued, but thankfully we hadn’t seen the last of him.
He continued to grace us with the completely outrageous, unpredictable and utterly unforgettable Lady OH.
Anyone who ever saw that microphone come out knows exactly what we mean.
Infinity has since become Pulse, but we will never rewrite or forget the history that brought us here. The inclusive values at the heart of what we do today owe a great deal to what David created and stood for.
Away from Lady OH, David was also a friend to so many of us. He touched an incredible number of lives, and there are people across Southend and far beyond it who have their own story, memory or completely inappropriate Lady OH moment that they’ll never forget.
Essex really has lost a national treasure.
Our love and deepest condolences are with David’s children, family and friends at what is an unimaginably difficult time.
Thank you for everything, Dave.
Thank you for Infinity.
Thank you for Lady OH.
Thank you for the laughter.
And thank you for helping create a place where so many people discovered they belonged.
You will always be part of our story. ❤️
