I have been working my way (slowly) through the  art club classes.

I started with the How To do Quick Color Studies class here. I'm quite happy with how this turned out for my first try - one of my aims is to make looser and less detailed final pieces. Of course, I have a long way to go.

It's very hard for me to not always have that 'how can I monetise this' question in my mind whenever I am doing basically anything(!!) but for now, I'm trying to just play and learn and make more art for fun. I want to find a new style, so I'm just trying to figure out what I like and what I am good at for now, with no real end goal in mind.

I'm just working my way through the classes (slowly), I am actually a little behind and need to spend some time catching up with the daily challenges which I will share in time.

I'm actually joining in with a few different classes that I have come across online and I will hopefully share my progress with those also. I'm not too confident in my physical sketchbook just yet but I do plan on getting better in time - I have about a billion paint along classes to do this weekend - wish me luck!

I've been struggling with anxiety recently. I first experienced a physical version of anxiety a few years ago where I felt nauseous for 6 weeks. It was sort of ok because it was the slow season in my business and I basically just sat at home and played on the xbox under my duvet until I felt better!

Now this feeling is creeping into my daily life again - and, you know, my life is different now and I want to be able to live it. There are things that make me feel a bit nervous, like traveling (which I plan to do more of), and when the two things clash, it can get quite bad.

I had one episode in Canada and one just last week in Estonia - I get hot, nauseous and I experienced full on body shakes, like shock. Once I was even physically sick (causing us to miss our flight home from Korea).

So I've decided that it's time, I've booked some online therapy sessions where I would like to focus on some CBT texhniques to break this cycle that my brain is in - I get anxious about feeling anxious, which makes me anxious. I mean, it sounds so pathetic!

I wonder if anyone else has felt this type of thing, if they have found any ways to cope or if you've experienced anxiety in the past that you've managed to get a handle on?

I wanted to share some of my recent illustrations with you to stay accountable and to share my art journey.

I've not been so happy with my style of late and want to brush up. It might surprise you that even professional illustrators can lack confidence sometimes or feel more or less confident working in one format over another. I think it's the creative way to just feel like this sometimes.

Anyway, I want practice and sketchbooking to become something that I do on a weekly, if not daily basis to increase my confidence....and let me tell you, it's already working.

Thoughts so far:
*I'd like to keep things light and free flowing where possible
*I prefer more pastel or bright colours rather than darker colours
*I prefer working on the ipad 100% because I'm not so scared of making mistakes
*I do want to work in my physical sketchbook over the summer when I have more materials to hand
*I have been really enjoying the process, which shocks me!

Now I'm doing a course about drawing people in more of a cartoon style - shall I share my progress?

I will admit that I made this post a few weeks ago and then lost my nerve completely - like should I even be admitting these things out loud as a professional illustrator? But reading back through this has given me the boost to bust out the sketchbook again.

I definitely feel like I could be more of a fair weather sketcher - but alas, we seem to book our travel adventures around the snow rather than the sun! Bring on spring/summer... where I will be in boring, uninspiring England for a few months, ha!

If you keep a sketchbook do you have any tips for those of us who feel this way?

And if you have been meaning to start a sketchbook, do you feel the same way as me?

I feel like this is quite normal, and there's only one way to get over it....

This is what rich means to me - I don't need to be millionaire rich, I need slow walks through new cities with the one I love, making enough money via my small creative business selling my (mainly) venue illustrations and wedding stationery to couples, like me... who also don't aspire to be millionaires, but want something personal and pretty on their special day.

What a joy it is to be alive - in times like these I appreciate every little second I get to spend doing the things I love with this little life that was gifted to me.

Things are not always easy - they haven't been easy for us personally in this last week but I am feeling very grateful. ❤️

*Just trying to make more time for reading, sharing our story + my business on insta and making art now! Time flies when you're having fun.

How to blow up your life, in the best way!

Quietly dream of escape & talk about “one day” a lot
Quit your job, start a business & almost buy a house(!)
Start manically saving whilst watching everyone else settle down
Wake up 14 years later and realise your still thinking about it
Decide it’s now or never - sell your car, end your rental contract
Make a small business pivot so you can take things on the road
Book a one way flight to Asia via Europe - there’s no going back now
Say goodbye to friends and family & pack your life into a suitcase
Finally feel free - take a breath, you actually did that!

Now it’s about staying inspired - and making my business work, wherever I am in the world.

I'm curious, have you ever felt the pull to change everything?

Come and sketch with me in this cute cafe in Riga - sound on for cafe asmr

📍 Riga, Latvia

I always mean to be the type of artist that draws from cafes, but so often I feel too awkward, distracted or I don't know what to draw - I've never really kept a sketchbook so I'm not used to just drawing for fun or for practice.

This was a great day, we found this cute little cafe and I spent maybe 20 mins making a little sketch for fun and guess what? It was fun and relaxing and I'm definitely going to do it again.

You can see how chuffed I am with myself!

I love watching other people draw and I love the ambient cafe sounds. Should I try to film more cute videos like this?

I'm on a mission to be more confident about my work. 😁
