National Enforcement Solutions (NES) are now enforcing dog exclusion zones and dogs-on-lead areas across Adur and Worthing.
Our enforcement partner will be helping us implement long-standing dog restrictions in parks, play areas and other public spaces, while continuing to tackle littering and the failure to pick up after dogs.
This includes dog exclusion zones, such as children’s play areas and parts of Worthing and Goring beaches during the summer months, as well as dogs-on-lead areas at a number of parks across Adur and Worthing.
These restrictions are not new. Most have been in place for more than a decade. What is changing is that NES officers are now actively enforcing them, so residents and visitors may notice a greater officer presence in these locations.
NES officers can issue £100 Fixed Penalty Notices on our behalf where people fail to comply with the relevant restrictions. Serious or persistent breaches may result in prosecution, with a fine of up to £1,000 and a criminal record. Officers wear uniforms featuring our logo, carry ID badges and use body-worn cameras when interacting with members of the public.
We want to be clear that this isn’t about targeting dogs or responsible dog owners. The enforcement is part of our wider efforts to keep our parks, beaches and public spaces safe, clean and welcoming for everyone.
