Let’s talk about cancellation fees.
Somehow they only seem unfair when they apply to a hair appointment.
But say you bought a concert ticket. And then you forgot to go or something came up and you couldn’t go. The venue is not giving you your money back. Your seat is reserved whether you show up or not.
You reserved a hotel room, but did not show up. They will be charging your card because they reserve that room for you.
You missed your flight, the plane left. The airline is not giving you your money back. Your seat was reserved for you and they will be charging you for it.
You paid for a gym membership, but only showed up twice in the month. They will not reimburse you for the other 28 days that you didn’t show up.
You register for a class and didn’t show up. That spot could’ve gone to somebody else, but it was reserved for you.
A missed dentist appointment, you would be charged and struck off the list.
Is this beginning to sound familiar?
Now let’s bring it into the salon.
You reserve a three hour slot for your color appointment. It is saved specifically for you. So when you cancel last minute, or don’t show up at all, that stylist cannot put those hours back for somebody else to fill.
The point:
The cancellation fee is not a charge for doing nothing.
It is a reservation with that stylist that nobody else can fill
big difference.
Yes, we know emergencies happen.
We absolutely understand that life happens.
But the bills and expenses of business do not disappear because someone forgot their appointment. We still have the products to pay for , the rent to pay for and still have our bills to pay at home.
Cancellation policies are there to protect the business. It is not personal.
Thank you to all of those that understand. ❤️
