Back in Feb fabulous Stephen Bailey hit our stage. Last night he smashed out loads of new material to a full but safe room. Loved every minute. There’s nothing like live comedy! Thanks for a brilliant night.

Have I ever shown home before? Here it is.
Laughter boosts the immune system - it literally kicks at Covid-19. Comedy might feature observations and rude words - but it’s still ‘art’. Art is anything which makes you look at the world differently – even for a moment.

Live Comedy is dying.

Comedy Clubs are my favourite place. It is not recognised by the Arts Council so 77% of venues could close if no help is received.

It employs comedians, bar staff, designers, lighting techs and sound techs and many more.

COMEDY IS IMPORTANT.

A new book by the wonderful comedian, Fighting Talk regular and LoveSport Radio host, Ian Stone, lands next week on 25th June and is available for pre order now.

“To Be Someone” is a freewheeling account of the five years Ian spent in the grip of obsession with The Jam having heard them at London’s Music Machine in 1978. This memoir pays tribute to the band that helped Ian, and many others, to grow up amid the turbulence of Britain in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Lazy Tuesday afternoon listening to stand up comedian and writer Suzi Ruffell’s first episode of her new podcast series ‘Out with Suzi Ruffell’ about the inspiring lives of LGBTQ+ people. This episode is a conversation with Dustin Lance Black, an American screenwriter, director, film and television producer and LGBT rights activist. Dustin won an Oscar in 2008 for his screenplay for Milk, starring Sean Penn; a film about Harvey Milk, the first openly gay elected politician in California. In 2019 he published his best-selling award winning memoir Mama’s Boy, where he tells of his upbringing growing up gay and Mormon in Texas in a military family.
What a wonderful inspiring, honest, uplifting and emotional hour. TUNE IN. It’s brilliant. Could have listened all afternoon.

Tough times at the moment for so many people for so many different reasons. As a club we want to share and help the wonderful acts who have graced our stage over the last few years and who have made you laugh and given you an evening to remember. Here is Rich Wilson...our MC in September, and a guy who we love and admire as a comic and great guy.
