It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Holywell Band President, Steve Edwards.
Steve was a true bandsman, dedicating 50 years of his life to brass banding. Throughout his journey, he played tuba for Flint Silver Town, Point of Ayr, Northop Silver and Holywell. Along with often helping other bands such as Buckley, Wrexham, Salvo Brass and Gwaun Cae Gurwen, whether it was for a rehearsal, concert or contest.
Alongside his playing, performing on both Eb bass and, at times, Bb bass, Steve also shared his knowledge and passion for music by teaching many young beginners. It is a wonderful testament to his dedication that so many of those he taught have gone on to become amazing musicians themselves.
Steveās contribution to brass banding, his commitment to nurturing young talent and his passion for music will be remembered by all who knew him.
Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Steveās family, friends and fellow bandsmen at this very sad time.
