Mutley Matters

Mutley Matters Mutley Matters is a community group in Plymouth looking to create a greater community spirit in the neighbourhood of Mutley.

Mutley Matters was set up in September 2015 to help foster greater community and stakeholder cohesion in the neighbourhood of Mutley. Supported by The Mutley Greenbank Trust, we hold events and monthly socials to help achieve this aim. The group has also taken on the responsibilities of what used to be The Friends of Moor View Park. This little green oasis located on Moor View Terrace behind The F

ortescue Pub on Mutley Plain is a public park open to one and all. Mutley Matters will continue to assist Plymouth City Council in looking after the park, as well as promoting the use of such through community events and more.

A big thank you to everyone who came to our Smile In The Park event last weekend. We hope you had a good time. The weather more or less held out to the end, allowing us to dedicate the new reflective space at the southern end of the park to Jeanne Hinton, and see Sara Haidon - Brave The Shave - for Macmillan. We had some lovely food, and activities for the kids put on.

Big thanks must be passed onto:
- Plymouth City Council (Official) - for tidying the park and their contribution to the project.
- Vital Sparks - for their support of the project.
- Sarah Jane Hodge - for her oversight, design and creation of the reflective space.
- Piggy and Linzi Davies for providing the food.
- Freedom/Mount Gould Youth Group - for their huge support at the event last Saturday for their taking part in the project.
- Ross Maynard and the Mutley Baptist Church for providing refreshments and lending us tables and chairs.
- The Mutley Greenbank Trust

With our fast approaching memorial unveiling event this saturday to celebrate the life of Jeanne Hinton, we have a lovely contribution from a very special woman. Sara Haidon is fundraising to help fight cancer. She is shaving her head to raise funds for Macmillan and has asked if she can do it live at our event! We are so pleased that we can host this because we all know the pain cancer brings to families and how Jeanne battled with it herself. Sara will be 'braving the shave' at 1pm. Please come along to give her as much support as possible.

Please also visit Sara's page and help her achieve her target if you can.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday.

I’m Braving the Shave for Macmillan and I need your support. Check out my profile page where you can make a donation.

Local artist Sarah Jane Hodge recently guided the Mount Gould Youth Group, local residents and friends of the late Jeanne Hinton to create some beautiful stepping stones. These will form a part of the reflective space and memorial to the late Jeanne Hinton, to be installed in Moor View Park in Mutley this week. Join us on Saturday 16th September at our Smile In The Park event to celebrate Moor View Park as our local green space.

These workshops were kindly supported by donations from our recent crowdfunding campaign, including generous donations from Debbie Thorpe, Plymouth City Council (Official), Vital Sparks , Bill Farra (The Community of Celebration) and Aubrey Curtis.

WE DID IT!! A big thank you to everyone who donated to our recent Crowdfunding Appeal to raise money for an art installation for Moor View Park - helping to grow its identity as a community space and remember a local community champion - Jeanne Hinton.

We're looking forward to working with local artist Sarah Jane Hodge and employing the services of the local charity Landworks, in order to help us achieve this installation, as outlined in the appeal - https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/celebrating-community-through-our-local-park

We have also secured more funding than that which was required, through the generosity of those who donated. Such extra funds will be allocated to maintenance tasks in the park, such as the potential installation of a new notice board. Exact details will be firmed up over the coming weeks.

Special thanks must go to Debbie Thorpe, Aubrey Curtis, Bill Farra and the Community of Celebration, Plymouth City Council (Official) and Vital Sparks for their considerable donations - Thank You.

Work will begin over the coming weeks, with the hope of completing such by Saturday 16th September, when we'll look to have a celebration event - watch this space.

Thank You again :-)
