Our monthly open session of free music expression - come on down and get involved or simply sit back with a drink and enjoy. Each Jam is created entirely organically and comes in flavours of Afrobeat, Funk, Soul, World Music and more.

The Queen of Folk Rock, Maddy Prior brings an evening of song drawing on a lifetime in British folk music.
Joined by Andrew (Spud) Sinclair (Steeleye Span), she presents newly written work that will blend depth and atmosphere, alongside a selection of traditional and familiar favourites.

The perfect place for a tranquil drink, away from the hustle and bustle of 2026 living. We're open Tuesday to Thursday from 6pm, while live events happen in the bar below - you could even come on down and experience them or happily stay up and enjoy the evening air.

The Tuesday Jam at The Black Swan
We welcome back our regular classic jazz jam session tomorrow evening. Musicians are warmly invited to come on down and get involved, or if you simply want to sit back with a drink and enjoy the music, we'll be delighted to see you here.

The session will be in the expert hands of house musicians Paul Grainger (bass), Alan Law (keys) and John Hirst (drums).

The session is completely free to enter and enjoy, with Doors opening at 6pm and the live music running from 7:30pm

LIVE MUSIC at The Black Swan
June 2026

Presenting our lineup of exclusive gigs next month here at The Swan, so get your diaries out and plan your visits.

As ever, we're incredibly proud to host a phenomenal roster of locally based, independent musicians supporting jazz, blues, folk, funk, soul, Americana, world music, and so much more.

All the above gigs are free to enter, and we'll have the ol' jar on the bar out for pay as you feel donations to help support our live music programme.

PLUS across the month, we're also hosting the usual events: The Tuesday Jam on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, The Jam Sandwich on the 2nd Tuesday, and the weekly Pub Quiz on Wednesdays.

This supergroup of the region’s most exciting musical collaborators are bringing high energy, inspiring culture and a whole lot of fun to our stage.

The weekly Black Swan Pub Quiz, every Wednesday! Test yourself with four rounds, bonus challenges and other associated silliness and your team could spin the wheel for the cash prize, pick from the colourful bag of runner up prizes or even find yourselves choosing next week's specialist subject.
