A big Saturday of live sport at The Old Bridge Inn.

This afternoon we’ll be showing both finals live on 4 screens.

First up, it’s Gareth's lot
The Challenge Cup Final from Wembley.

Wigan Warriors v Hull KR
Kick off 3pm

If you’re in The Bridge watching the rugby, drop a selfie in the comments and show him who’s backing the Robins from Barrowford.

Then straight after, it’s the biggest night in European club football.

This little red and white cool box went to old Wembley with us in 1986.

Filled with club biscuits, sausage rolls, pork pies, sandwiches and bottles of Cresta from the pop man.

My dad being my dad, it obviously had to be red and white.

Fast forward to now and I’m checking Wembley bag restrictions like I’m planning a military operation. After a bag mishap at Wembley 2023 and Vegas, I’m not taking any chances.

Different times, aren’t they?

Back then you could take half the kitchen with you. These days your bag has to be smaller than a stamp and if you even think about smuggling in a Polo mint, security are on you.

Not a complaint, by the way. Safety comes first and that’s the world we live in now.

It just made me smile this morning, looking at this old cool box and thinking how much has changed… and how much hasn’t.

Still red and white.
Still going to Wembley.
Still hoping to see Hull KR lift that trophy.

Some things never leave you.

Chef’s going to Wembley…

Just a heads up, the kitchen will be closed this Saturday as Chef is off to Wembley to watch the mighty Hull KR in the Challenge Cup Final.

It’s still a childhood dream to see Rovers win at Wembley, and after missing last year, there was no chance he was missing this one.

You’re probably all bored of these finals by now… but Chef and his family certainly aren’t.

Who knew the Vegas reunion would come round this quickly?

The bar will be open as normal.

Bank Holiday Monday… the Summer Spice Boxes are back.

After a cracking trial last Bank Holiday, our Summer Spice Boxes have officially earned a permanent place on the menu.

Inspired by the viral Irish spice bag, but given a proper Bridge twist… seasoned fries, crispy chicken or haddock, peppers, onions, spring onion and a pot of chip shop curry sauce for good measure.

We think they’re pretty special… but don’t just take our word for it.

Available Bank Holiday Monday, 1pm - 6pm from our new garden menu.

Grab a pint, find a spot outside, and get stuck in.
