Wine Man ~ the perfect wines for spring lamb, at the Church Inn, PART 2 🍷🌿
This May we’ve been exploring what to have with spring lamb, and we’ve got two more seriously special wines for you.
One red, one rosé, and both were almost born to accompany a lamb Sunday roast!
First up, the Coterie by Wildeberg Grenache Syrah, Coastal Region, South Africa 🇿🇦
Ripe, supple Grenache from Paarl blends with the spicy berry fruit of Franschhoek Syrah, giving you a warm nose of freshly cracked black pepper, allspice and ripe plum, with red berry and dark fruits balanced by fresh acidity.
That pepper and spice is exactly why this wine sings alongside lamb…it mirrors the herb crust, handles the richness, and keeps everything lifted and fresh.
Then there’s the Domaine du Pré Semelé Sancerre Rosé, Loire (Organic) 🇫🇷
This is no ordinary rosé. Made by brothers Clément and Julien Raimbault, it’s a 100% rosé de presse, gently pressed for 3.5 hours to draw only the most delicate flavours from the Pinot Noir skins.
Fresh strawberries and red fruits on the nose, with redcurrants, red cherries and a touch of peach… joyous and fresh with a real Pinot Noir backbone.
That structure and bright acidity cut beautifully through the fat of the lamb, making every mouthful feel clean and elegant 🌸
Two wines, two very different styles, both a great match with spring lamb! 🌱
Available by the glass and bottle as our Wines of the Month at the Church Inn ~ Keep an eye out these styles when you’re shopping for wine! 🍷
