Community Notice – The Black Bull, Margaretting

Chelmsford City Council has confirmed its decision regarding the recent nomination to list The Black Bull public house as an Asset of Community Value.

Following assessment under the Localism Act 2011, the Council has determined that the nomination was unsuccessful. The decision, made on 12 December 2025, concluded that there was insufficient recent evidence of community use and that it was not realistic to expect such use to resume within the next five years.

As a result, The Black Bull has been placed on the Council’s register of Unsuccessful Assets of Community Value.

This notice is shared for information and clarity for the Margaretting community.
