Music for Health Southampton West/New Forest Music for Health...smiles better! After David has adapted the pieces that have been chosen, the workshop is ready to try out with real Residents.

If you and I are feeling down or sad, we can just choose for ourselves what music we play, or we may go for a walk or have a glass of wine or whatever we instinctively do to re-balance ourselves. Some of the people in care no longer have the ability to do this, for a variety of reasons, so MFH is trying to ensure that whatever label life has given the people that we work with, the workshops will h

elp them. When the workshop is put together musically, it is passed to David for him to perform his magic on it in the MFH studio Each workshop is totally interactive and holistic involving the Residents on every level possible. Working bi-laterally is particularly important, we use many guises to do this – getting the Residents to use as many groups of muscles as possible but with them just having a good time, which in itself is beneficial. - Each workshop also includes a music quiz to help thinking and discussion.

Hello everyone
Ted is halfway through some really nasty chemotherapy as his lymphoma has returned...he goes into hospital soon for a month to have very strong chemo and to have a stem cell transplant...and after he comes out he'll be poorly for quite a while.
I've asked the homes that regularly book us to book us again from February next year...and if you are a new home looking for our unique workshops, we will be taking new bookings from April 2017...so plenty of time to plan ahead!
Thank you to everyone who has sent us good wishes...please keep us in your thoughts and send positive vibes...:-)

Apologies to our clients whom we have had to cancel or postpone recently due to Ted's being very poorly..we hope to get a firm diagnosis and be able to plan how we move forward very soon..and thanks to everyone at the homes who have been very understanding..we hope to see you all very soon!

Busy week..two workshops at one of our homes, one was a 100th Birthday and a few days later a scheduled workshop..they were surprised to see us again!

Christmas workshops going well...two yesterday and two today, everyone loves the new instruments (coconut maracas and the most gorgeous mother of pearl shell shakers)...must get some more. I felt a bit yuck this morning but as usual the workshops cheered me right up!
