It’s with great sadness and a heavy heart that after 19 years of trading we’re announcing the closure of the Dunes Bar & Restaurant. We will be closed from Monday 15th of this month, our last opening day Sunday 14th.
We would like to thank all our customers and everyone that’s dined with us over the years for your support, all the positive feedback and the nice people we met over the years, it’s been greatly appreciated. Also, a big thank you to our regular and local drinkers, our Monday and Friday clubs for your continued support and loyalty, you’ve epitomised what village community is all about, what a lovely bunch you all are 😊
A big massive thank you to all our staff, past and present, we couldn’t of done it without you guys, you’ve been amazing and worked hard in some trying times in the busy summers months, and trying it was at times. We like to think we done okay and and picked up some valuable life experiences that will stand you in good stead in the future. We wish you all the best whatever you do from now on 😊
Thank you to all our local suppliers Aldington Fresh Foods J&F Fruiterers ltd Coleman’s ABC Drinkswarehouseuk Ramsgate and the others for the years of great service, all great businesses that have supplied us with fine produce over the years.
Thank you to all the local tradesman that we’ve called out in emergency’s over the years, some no longer with us. Of course never forgetting my late cousin Henry Boxall for building the bar 20 years ago now, it seems like yesterday we were working on getting it ready in time for the summer ❤️
Times are tough right now for hospitality, none more so then in a small seaside village that depends heavily on tourism, day trippers and holiday makers. So with with that in mind I have to mention the damage that Rother District Council done to camber last year with their exorbitant fixed rate parking policy for summer 2023. This was imposed to purposely deter cars from entering our end of the village, affectively killing the summer day trade by denying us the footfall the businesses desperately need in a short season. It crippled the summer trade and has proved devastating long term. Couple that with the further devastating loss of pontins holiday park and the years of lucrative buisness it brought to the local economy, throw in the now extortionate energy tariffs for licensed business’s, then it was hard to see a way forward for the Dunes Bar.
Let’s hope this summer the sun shines and day trippers visit camber again, the parking is now an hourly rate so maybe the council learned. It’s important to support local businesses wherever they are. It’s an age old cliche but ‘use it or loose it’
Once again a massive thank you to everyone ❤️
