Should freelancers take deposits?🤯

There's a strong case for it. A deposit protects you if a client doesn't show up, covers some of your time either way, and shows you're dealing with clients who are serious about their booking. But we know it's not always straightforward, plenty of freelancers worry it'll make for an awkward conversation, or feel it's not necessary because their clients usually turn up anyway.

Our view is that deposits are worth having in place so you're covered, but we also know that starting the conversation isn't always easy.

It's easier than it sounds. Watch the runways, make the most of education moments, and follow the people you find most inspiring on social media (they don't have to work in hair, sometimes the best ideas come from somewhere else entirely).
