Oh what a day!!
After 62 days without rain, of course the heavens decided to open on the ONE day we had planned our outdoor Mini Festival Fun Day! Typical British summer weather! 😂🇬🇧🌧️
After months of planning, we had to make the incredibly difficult decision this morning to move the event inside. Watching the rain hammer down and the wind rip through the garden was absolutely heartbreaking, and we were genuinely devastated. 💔
With just hours to go, we even tried to create a makeshift covering outside, and the amazing team from Mercer Scaffolding…who had already spent DAYS building our incredible stage and lighting completely FREE OF CHARGE, jumped straight in to try and save the day. ❤️
Unfortunately, it just wasn’t possible to make it work safely.
So… PLAN B!
And do you know what?
YOU TURNED UP! ❤️
The amazing walkers headed off in the rain, performers adapted to the new arrangements, stallholders squeezed inside, our beautiful ponies braved the weather… and then the crowds started arriving.
And they just kept coming!
What could have been a complete disaster turned into an absolutely incredible day filled with music, laughter, dancing, friendship and the most amazing community spirit.
It wasn’t the festival we had planned.
It wasn’t the beautiful sunny outdoor event we had imagined.
But it was something just as special!
A HUGE thank you to our incredible staff, volunteers, performers, stallholders, sponsors, walkers, suppliers, Mercer Scaffolding, everyone who donated, and every single person who came along to support the day!
We genuinely went from feeling completely heartbroken yesterday morning to standing on the stage at the end of the night thinking…
“Bloody hell… we actually did it!”
We don’t have the final fundraising total yet, but we’ll share it as soon as we do!
Thank you everyone!
