🥃 Whisky of the Week! 🥃

We've got something special pouring at the bar this week. Say hello to our latest Whisky of the Week: the Olorosum 10 Year Old.

At just £4 a dram, it’s the perfect excuse to treat yourself and warm up after a long walk around Reeth.

Tasting Notes:

As the name suggests, this beautiful single malt carries a rich, deep sherry-cask influence.

👃 Nose: Rich aromas of dried fruits, raisins, and a touch of toasted almonds.

👅 Palate: A warm, inviting blend of dark chocolate, winter spices, sweet caramel, and fig.

✨ Finish: Smooth, lingering, and perfectly warming.

Pull up a chair at The Kings Arms Hotel, get comfortable, and let us pour you a glass. Cheers! 🥃

Year one in the books, and yet another award! We must be doing something right. 🥂

We are absolutely over the moon to announce that The Kings Arms has been awarded the Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice 2026, placing us in the top 10% worldwide!

Following our AA Rosette, 5-star Cask Marque, and 5-star food hygiene rating this spring, this feels like the perfect way to cap off an incredible first year of reopening and reviving this historic inn.

A massive thank you to our hardworking team, and, of course, to every single one of our wonderful guests. Whether you've joined us for a Sunday Session, stopped in for some food after a hike across the Dales, or stayed in one of our newly renovated rooms, your glowing reviews and support mean the world to us.

Here’s to another fantastic year ahead! 🍻

It's a tale as old as time in the pub: Guinness drinkers are the true grafters. 🍻

You know the type. First on site, last out the door, and won't settle for anything less than a properly settled two-part pour to wash away a 10-hour shift. They don't mind waiting for it, because patience is just part of the hard work. Earning that pint of the black stuff is practically a religion.

But here’s the real question... what do we make of the lads and lasses who occasionally stray to a pint of Murphy’s? 🤔

Is it a harmless, cheeky switch-up for a slightly sweeter finish when you're south of the border? A sign of a refined palate? Or is it absolute stout treason? Are they still in the grafter club, or have they gone completely rogue?

Let’s settle this. Are the Guinness loyalists the ultimate grafters, and do the Murphy's wanderers get a pass? Drop your verdict below. 👇

Ever seen someone pack like they’re on a covert Arctic mission just to sit outside The King's Arms? 😂

Put together a little edit of the local Birra Moretti drinkers hitting Reeth today. 80L rucksacks, tactical gear, and not a clue between them. Enjoy! 🍻🏕️👇

Well, the time has come. The fire is officially lit, and it almost makes the cold seem worth it... almost! Haha. There’s nothing quite like a proper roaring fire to end a chilly day in the Dales. It's the perfect excuse to pull up a chair, grab a pint of Theakston's, and settle in for the evening.

There’s nothing quite like a crisp autumn stomp across Fremington Edge or Low Common as the valley colors start to turn. After blowing away the cobwebs in the Swaledale breeze, the ultimate reward awaits back at the pub. Warm up by the fire with a perfect, freshly pulled pint of Theakston’s cask ale, and refuel with our AA Rosette-winning seasonal menu featuring the absolute best local Yorkshire produce. Whether you're bringing muddy boots or muddy paws—Coco is always ready to welcome new friends—we've got a cozy corner waiting for you in Reeth.

The hills around Swaledale have always been our sanctuary, but very soon, they are going to become our proving ground for a cause that means absolutely everything to our family.

Me, a few of the brilliant team from the pub, and myself are incredibly proud to be joining June to take on the formidable Reeth 3 Peaks. We know the trails around Fremington Edge and Calver Hill well, but this time, the miles carry a much heavier weight. It is going to be a tough trek up and down those familiar climbs, but every single step we take, and every bit of breath we spend, will be to raise vital funds for Cancer Research.

This is not just another charity walk for us; it is a deeply personal mission. This disease has cast a long, painful shadow over our lives recently. We are walking in loving memory of Lisa’s mam and dad, who we have so heartbreakingly lost. We carry their memory with us every single day, and they will absolutely be in our hearts and minds when our legs inevitably start to ache on that final ascent.

We are also walking in celebration of resilience and survival. I know firsthand the grueling, terrifying reality of facing this illness, having fought and beaten cancer twice myself. I know the darkness of the diagnosis, but I also know the incredible, life-saving power of the research, the treatments, and the sheer hope that charities like this provide to families in their darkest hours.

The pub has always been about community—about pulling together, sharing the load, and supporting one another through thick and thin. Now, we are asking our wonderful community to help us make a real difference. Whether you can spare a few pounds or a larger contribution, your donation to Cancer Research will go directly toward fighting this disease, finding cures, and giving more families the precious gift of time.

We will be swapping our usual shifts and pulling pints for hiking boots, and we would be so entirely grateful for your backing. Keep an eye out for our updates as we get out training on the trails, and please follow the link below to donate to the cause.

Let’s get out there and do this—for Lisa’s parents, for all the survivors, and for every single person who is still fighting.
