Christmas is fast approaching and a busy time at your club with everything from Private parties, Cockney night, Children’s Christmas party and various other great events thanks to all involved.
Christmas is also the time of year when all the appeal letters land on your doormat in ever increasing numbers for many worthy causes, and the Club has done its bit throughout the year for charity by helping raise money for Cherry lodge with our Cha disco, which we hold regularly to raise funds for this and other very worthy causes.
This year we can add another new appeal, and this time it is your Arkley Club, who urgently need help to find a new club Steward plus a Treasurer to look after the Club bookings and finances. The Club Steward is a paid, contractual, part time role, and would suit an individual or couple to cover the bar on the days/nights we are open, and to help run the venue which entails, bookings, going to the wholesalers for stock replenishment and cleaning of the club, just to name a few of the duties. Perhaps you may be able to help, or know of someone who would be willing to take on this role.
The Treasurer is also a vital role and needs someone who has either got book keeping knowledge, or is willing to learn on the Job, as the Club's existence depends on the financial accountability and trust of the members that this person can bring. The role involves book keeping, banking, dealing with payments to the Steward, and all suppliers to the Club. While most of this can be done remotely, some input at the club would be necessary. We would again ask if you, or someone you know would be willing to help with this very important voluntary role which could be both challenging and rewarding.
The Club is always looking for people to join the Committee to deal with the day to day running of this unique 123 year old Club in the heart of Arkley which has around a 100-120 members annually, and is fighting for its survival, and with your help and support could be maintained for future generations. The many advantages the Club has to offer to its members and guests vary from a great social meeting place, drinks that are practically half the price of the local pubs, function room for all your parties, darts and snooker plus great entertainment, so come along and enjoy and support this amazing place.

We cannot stress enough that without a Treasurer, Bar Steward, plus a committee, it will be extremely difficult for the Club to carry on as normal in 2025. This would be a sad reflection on the current custodians/members, and for future generations who follow.
