Marchโ€™s menu was an ode to spring with lots of botanicals and fresh herbs! ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ’

I kept the menu smaller but with some more complicated recipes, including two with homemade syrups ๐Ÿ˜‹ I love making my own syrup - itโ€™s so easy to add a ton of flavour (just dissolve 1 cup of white sugar in 1 cup of boiling water and simmer with any fruits/herbs/spices of your choice!) For this menu, I made a cucumber syrup and a lemon rosemary syrup - both were surprisingly versatile! โ˜บ๏ธ

Highlights were definitely the Lemon Rosemary Old Fashioned, the Rosemary Bramble and the Cucumber Lemonade (super refreshing!). The only one we didnโ€™t try was the Blackberry Sage Spritzer, but I am keen to give that a go soon - Iโ€™m always curious about cocktails that involve wine! ๐Ÿท

Very belated post hereโ€ฆbut I kicked off the new year with a night at Emilyโ€™s all about bubbles! ๐Ÿฅ‚

This was a great menu to beat the mid-winter blues. I mixed a few classics (French 75, Kir Royale) with some fun combos from my recipe books (Elderbubble, Russian Spring Punch) and they all went down a little too well! ๐Ÿ˜‹

I tried the Aperol Flip years ago and it definitely held up to my memory - itโ€™s a little tart, a little sweet, a little creamy, and a lot of fun. And of course it wouldnโ€™t be a bubbly party without a Negroni Sbagliato (say it with meโ€ฆwith prosecco in it!) ๐Ÿพ

And as always, Dicky stole the show ๐Ÿฅน

Cheers to the grand finale of Downton Abbey! ๐Ÿฅ‚๐ŸŽฉ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿผ

Put my Downton cocktail book to good use this weekend with a gorgeous selection of historic drinks ๐Ÿธ Itโ€™s hard to pick a favourite, although the Boothby was a pleasant surprise! I recommend for fans of a Manhattan ๐Ÿฅƒ And you can never go wrong with a Clover Club, especially in this incredible glassware (courtesy of and โค๏ธ)

Iโ€™ve just returned from the film and I can absolutely see the characters enjoying these cocktails! Especially in the most gorgeous gowns yet - the costume department have truly outdone themselves ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ Meanwhile I was in a sweatshirt but with a good drink in hand who really cares?!

Cheers to the end of an epic era, until they decide to revive the franchise with just one more ๐Ÿ˜‰

Closing out Pride Month with a rainbow night at Emilyโ€™s! ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿ’•

I served up a simple but colourful menu featuring some of my favourite drinks through the years ๐Ÿฅฐ Lots of bright flavours, refreshing finishes and of course, plenty of colour! ๐Ÿ˜

It was hard to pick a top drink of the night - I think we all tried almost every single one! The Green Belt is definitely an ideal summer drink and went down very easy in the heat ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿฅ’ the Blue Bird was probably the prettiest, even if it did turn some tongues blue ๐Ÿ’™ and I remembered how much I love a Bramble - Iโ€™ll definitely be working this into my regular rotation! ๐Ÿ‡ (not a lot of berry emojis - the grapes will have to do! ๐Ÿ˜…)

We ended the night with a round of Rob Royโ€™s - a strong finish (literally!) ๐Ÿฅƒ I loved celebrating with a fantastic group this month, Iโ€™m wishing everybody a very happy Pride! ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ

Celebrated Cinco de Mayo with made-to-order margs! ๐Ÿ‹โ€๐ŸŸฉ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ

With options for liquor, berries, herbs & spices, and serve style, we crafted our perfect margaritas! Had to offer some vodka for those who arenโ€™t a fan of tequila or mezcal (we listen and we donโ€™t judge!!!) Cointreau included for all, of course ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ

The highlights were definitely the spicy margs (which came out pink with muddled chilis!) and the blackberry & basil combo ๐ŸŒฟ It was such a nice way to use fresh berries!! ๐Ÿ“

I loved this format of making drinks! It was perfect for a smaller crowd so I may try this again sometime ๐Ÿ‘€

What would be your perfect margarita order??

Florals for spring? Groundbreaking ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒบ

Emilyโ€™s 2.0 was another success! This night featured a lot of cocktails that Iโ€™d never tried before and the majority were a hit (with one notable exceptionโ€ฆ) ๐Ÿ˜… Thank you to my guinea pigs for embracing the warmer weather with lots of citrus and fresh flavours! ๐ŸŠ And swipe to the end for the CUTEST guest with his specialty cocktail! ๐Ÿฅ’

A Beeโ€™s Knees is the first cocktail I ever made at home and it still holds up - a classic for a reason! ๐Ÿ˜‹The Japanese Cocktail was a great excuse to restock orgeat (almond syrup) which is a top tier ingredient in my opinion ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ The Apple Blossom Mai Tai was one of the surprise standouts from my OG cocktail adventure and is worth the effort - maybe the only rum drink Iโ€™d choose over gin! But I have to say the gimlet and Floradora were the stars of the evening! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

The only failure of the bunch was the Spirit of St Louis - I might have been a bit overzealous with the orange blossom water (measuring by sight after a few rounds of drinks always works, right??) but even if it was just a drop I donโ€™t think the flavour combination was the best. But nobodyโ€™s perfect, even prohibition era cocktails! ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

Emilyโ€™s will reopen in early Mayโ€ฆany guesses for the theme? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Emilyโ€™s is open for business! ๐Ÿฅ‚

Last night I got back to my home bartender roots and invited friends over for a cocktail night! The personalized menus and napkins may be a little extra but they definitely spark joy โœจ The theme was Valentineโ€™s Day, as evidenced by the cocktail choices! ๐Ÿ’•

It was so fun to bounce between the bar and sitting down with my friends, and together we tried a lot of new drinks! ๐Ÿธ The favourites of the night were the Rude Cosmopolitan, Clover Club, and Romeo & Julep - next time Iโ€™ll have more mint on hand! ๐Ÿƒ

This will hopefully be the first of many more cocktail nights, although not on Wednesdays ๐Ÿ˜… Thanks to my first round of guests (especially for washing glasses between rounds!), hope to see some of you at the bar in future! ๐Ÿ˜˜

Bramble v Bramble! ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿฅƒ๐Ÿค๐Ÿผ

The lovely is kicking off a new series where she and another mixologist each create their own spin on a classic cocktail. Iโ€™m delighted to be the first to mix off against her with our takes on the Bramble! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

I love a Bramble and Iโ€™ve tried many similar variations so I wanted to try something a little different with some lavender syrup I picked up recently ๐Ÿ˜‹ Iโ€™m glad I picked a very herbal gin as it balanced very well with the lemon and lavender. I used black raspberry liqueur which was deliciously tart and I didnโ€™t use any fresh blackberries for this shake, but I think they would go beautifully here ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ

My recipe is below - check out for her gorgeous version! ๐Ÿ˜

Lavender Bramble

2 oz gin (I used a bay leaf gin)
1 oz Chambord
1 oz lavender syrup
0.5 oz lemon juice

Shake with ice and strain over crushed ice (or regular ice cubes if you donโ€™t have the strength to crush themโ€ฆ)

The Sugarplum ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿธ๐ŸŠ

I have to thank for this absolute gem ๐Ÿ˜ Simple, quick to make, and delicious!

3-ingredient cocktails can be tricky - you need the proportions to be exact to create a perfectly balanced drink ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ Grapefruit in particular can easily overpower a cocktail, but the sweetness of that little bit of grenadine pairs well with the bitterness of the grapefruit (without creating a sickly sweet cocktail) ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Iโ€™ll definitely be mixing this up again soon, and might try a spiced variation for Christmas by infusing the gin with some cinnamon! ๐Ÿ˜‹

The Sugarplum

2 oz gin
1 oz grapefruit juice
0.5 oz grenadine

Shake with ice and strain into a chilled coupe.

Rye Me a River ๐Ÿฅƒ๐ŸŠ

This recipe is derived from a few Iโ€™ve saved from other mixologists, and made with what I had on hand. As a first try of a newly developed recipe, I was mostly happy with it but have made a few adjustments in the proportions shared below ๐Ÿ˜‹

On the first two sips, this was absolutely delicious - I was worried about the tartness of the grapefruit but the bitters blend with it beautifully and the simple syrup masks any burn from the whiskey ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ After a bit more time sipping this drink, I found it a little too sweet. On a re-shake, Iโ€™ll cut the simple syrup down from 1 oz to 0.5 oz, or up the orange juice to 1 oz and remove the simple syrup entirely. My taste tester also suggested a splash of lemon juice to brighten it up, but as is it filled a coupe glass to the brim so Iโ€™d cut back a bit on the grapefruit if you go that route!

The smoothness of this drink was certainly helped by my delicious Dorothy Arzner Straight Rye Whiskey, gifted by Great Women Spirits by Francis Ford Coppola ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป This is a range of small-batch spirits distilled with spring water in Napa Valley, and each spirit honours the accomplishments of women throughout history and seeks to tell their stories. ๐ŸŽ‰

1 oz grapefruit juice
0.5 oz orange juice
0.5 oz simple
1.5-2 oz whiskey
2 dashes angostura bitters

Shake with ice and strain into a coupe.
