The winning horse
As most of you are aware that on the 27th of December my assistant Emma walked out and resigned from the pub
But due to the fact it was a joint contract they had to give us joint termination of contract and although I tried to stay on and complete the contact I couldn’t as they decided to close it until they decide what to do with it so the pub closed on Wednesday night.
The turn out for the last night was overwhelming and made a sad night into a really lovely evening , I got to work with the amazing staff one more time and what amazing staff I had helping me throughout,you will never find better.
All the customers that became friends over the time along with everyone who worked with me all supported me till the end and I will be forever grateful.
Although it has come to this I do not hold any grudges and I wish Emma all the best in what ever business she has ago at next time.
But for everyone who supported me either by coming in or on line and all around the world,even on the last night someone from America came in to say goodbye I thank you with all my heart and you haven’t see the end of me yet as I have had several job offers for pubs in and around Claygate so we will meet up.

For everyone who signed to keep the winning horse pub and was unable to come to our farewell bash last night I am able to tell you that on Friday night wellingtons who owns the pub have asked us to continue for another 6 months.
So it’s all thanks to you.

For 30 years now I have been serving the public of claygate and have enjoyed every minute of it , from Kennedy’s garden centre, claygate royal British legion,the cricket club, and the winning horse but sadly it has come to the end.
I have made friends with everyone it’s been life changing .
Met my wife here and have 4 beautiful kids here , so I’m not going quietly on Saturday 2nd November everybody at the winning horse pub are going out in style with a farewell party you are all invited and let’s give this pub the send off it deserves.
We are not giving up the fight as so many people are going out there way to stop this but we are gonna be prepared.
We would like to thank everyone that has helped us get the pub ready and open and everyone that has been in and supported us all the old friends and so so many new people.
We couldn’t have done it without you all
Thank you so much.

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the Wellington Pub Co have decided not to extend the Temporary Lease granted on the pub. We believe that this is due to only one reason……redevelopment of the site for yet even more houses to achieve cash over community!
We have until just the 5th November to fight our corner and make the most of this long standing public house and we would invite ALL of you to join us and sign a petition here in the pub to show that us here in the village will not go without a fight.
