Just visited the Highlander in Inverness, all decked out for Christmas! 🎄 But surprisingly, the vibe was more metal than merry with Slipknot blasting as I grabbed my pint. Definitely a unique twist on holiday cheer! 🍻

Just checked out the Derby Bar, formerly the Errigle Inn, where they've been serving up pints since 1894! 🍻 With its cozy snugs and rich history dating back to the 16th century, it’s a must-visit on the Derry pub crawl. The barman regaled me with spine-tingling ghost stories—if only I could catch them all!

Just checked out Auctioneers, a cozy pub that’s steeped in history! 🍻 Situated in a former auction house, they even found an old gavel during renovations—now it’s proudly on display! Plus, it’s built on the site of a former church, making it a unique spot to catch a game. If you’re in Inverness, you’ve got to stop by!

🎉 Just popped into The Steps Bar, a gem dating back to 1938! With its original Art Deco vibe, this spot is a must-visit. Check out the stained-glass window that honors the RMS Queen Mary—such a cool nod to history! Fun fact: Legend has it a bailie lost his chain of office here in 1988 during a prank gone wrong! 😄

It gets its unusual name from the famous broken neon sign outside. In the 1970s, the owners covered up the rounded sections of the lettering, reportedly to avoid the lengthy process of applying for approval for a completely new sign.

The historic building itself dates back to 1770, and during Prohibition it became a speakeasy. Over the years, the upstairs rooms are said to have had a colourful collection of uses, including a doctor’s surgery, a smuggler’s den and even a brothel.

And there’s a ghost story too. Legend has it that the downstairs bar has been haunted since 1833 by the spirit of Mickey, a sailor who was murdered here.

Luke and I popped in for some sips and a warming Irish coffee after a long day.
