Passion - Pride - Satisfaction

Cider Is Wine is a campaign and organisation. We campaign for recognition of 100% juice ciders and perries - exclusively fermented from apples and pears - never-from-concentrate.

As an organisation Cider Is Wine is a consumer facing producer alliance. We have producer members, who make their fabulous ciders and perries exclusively from apples and/or pears, and our objective is to create a new segment for these ciders so that both drinks trade and consumers are aware of the choice to buy these wonderful drinks.

There is no global standard for cider so how do you know what you are buying? In France, Italy and Spain ciders are made from 100% juice - like wine; whereas in other countries the UK, Sweden, Australia, USA and most others then there is no single definition. They range from 0% to 50% and then often the juice that they use is concentrate re-constituted with water, sugar and yeast to produce a drink called cider.

Wine, in the EU, on the other hand is produced ‘exclusively from freshly gathered grapes’ according to the EU wine law. This has become the global standard, by common consent.
