FREE MEAD !
Now that I have your attention....
We are the Sons of Ivar, a Norse reenactment and fighting club based in Omagh. We portray Norse warriors who settled in Ireland during the 10th century.
While our club primarily focuses on Eastern-style martial arts and combat, there is much more to what we do than fighting. Our members practise a wide range of traditional crafts and skills, including nalbinding and woolwork, mead brewing, arms and armour making, woodworking, storytelling and outdoor living.
We are holding an open day 10 am to 3pm at the Hospital road community centre in Omagh, on the 24th October.
There really is something for everyone, whether you're interested in history, combat sports, traditional crafts, brewing, cooking over an open fire, the outdoors or travelling to historical reenactment events.
We are also currently building a Viking longhouse using traditional hand tools and historically inspired techniques, giving members the opportunity to learn and practise practical skills from the period.
On the day, we'll be training and demonstrating our fighting techniques. We'll also have spare training swords and armour available for visitors to try, giving people the chance to get hands-on experience and see what it's like to take part.

We have people regulary travel from all over Ireland and lift share to various training locations so if you are stuck, get in touch and I'll see if we have space in a car.
