Unfortunately, as I mentioned previously, the hospitality sector continues to face significant challenges. This ripple effect is likely to persist, particularly in smaller towns and villages where independent businesses receive little to no meaningful support. With operating costs continuing to rise, further closures this year seem inevitable unless businesses begin charging unsustainably high prices.
The consequences will extend beyond businesses alone, jobs will be lost, local economies impacted, and communities will suffer from the decline of valuable social spaces and environments. Regardless of political party, both previous and current governments share responsibility for the lack of support the industry urgently requires.
Upsetting and demoralising for the people that work so hard in this industry.
