📣 A WORD FROM THE GUVNOR (2/2) 📣

Hi all,

Me again (Martyn).

As most of you are already aware, but to follow on from my previous post, I am pleased to announce that The Royal Oak will be under the new management of Annie and Di.

Following a productive meeting in Dolton recently, and after considering numerous options, I feel Annie and Di are the right people to take the pub forward. Please note this is not a change of ownership, I still own the lease and will be financially responsible for the pub. This is purely a change of day-to-day management. I couldn’t possibly separate Bubbles and Di could I!

We have all see Di’s passion for the pub and Annie shares this. They have some great ideas to take forward and build upon all the hard work Andy has put in over the years and to keep the Royal Oak as the heartbeat of the community.

We will be continuing to offer food and will actually be largely increasing this offering as Annie takes over in the kitchen.

As a result of this change, and to allow Annie and Di to settle in etc the pub will be closed Tuesday - Thursday next week.

On Monday (1st) Annie and Di will run a “soft opening” with bar service only 15:00-20:00 as we don’t want to leave Dolton dry for a night!! We will have special offers on drinks as a “Thank you” for bearing with us whilst we spend a few days getting sorted.

We will soon publish the new opening hours (longer with more availability for food) but for now please join me in officially welcoming Annie and Di to the Royal.

On Friday 5th we will have a little “opening party” with details TBC. Please do join us for that and to test Annie and Di on their first official day. I’ll put some promotions on for that day too 😉

Thank you all once again for your continued support of the pub and I am looking forward to this new chapter.

📣 A WORD FROM THE GUVNOR (1 of 2) 📣

As everyone is aware, Sunday marks the end of an era at The Royal Oak as Andy pulls his final pints as Manager.

We are a couple of months short of Four years since we re-opened the doors of the Royal following some fairly extensive renovations.

In what was a “hobby project” for me it has certainly been a learning curve but I am immensely proud of the blood, sweat and tears Andy, and the rest of my family, have poured into the pub and the community spirit we have attempted to bring.

Has it made me millions? No, a tenner would be nice😂
Has is caused family arguements? Too many
Are we all proud of what we’ve done? Absolutely

With Mum & Dad moving back home to Hampshire and Andy & G taking the next step in their life together, the time was right to make a change.

It is fair to say Andy has given the pub his all, and in the words of Ian Beale has got nothing left!

Unfortunately due to family commitments of my own I cannot make it to Dolton this week but please please please make an effort to pop in and have a drink with Andy. Some may not agree with some of the things we have done in the pub, but I can absolutely guarantee all decisions were made with Doltons best interests, and certainly not mine as the owner (probably why there were arguments!).

Andy is hosting a leaving party from 6pm Saturday with music from his regular vocalist, Paul Adams.

If you cannot make Saturday, Andy will be opening for the final time on Sunday. 12pm until the last person leaves.

So to sign off the first of my messages, a very big and personal thank you from me to Andy for all he has done. I can’t believe he’s done it for this long. It has undoubtedly put strain on our relationship at times but I will be proudly stood by his side, as his best man, later this year. And will read a speech which is absolutely nowhere near as nice as this!!
