Practising what I preach is paying offβ¦πβ€οΈπ
Not put much about my actual game recently due to some changes in circumstances, but a great feeling to be hitting the ball well again! And at my home amazing club in Club Baize.
Wanted to explain my thoughts from my W last night: β¬οΈβ¬οΈβ¬οΈ
Weirdly, not been on the table much, I felt I wasnβt getting the outcome relating to the practise I was putting in - for me it felt I was βover practisingβ or βforcingβ the meaning too much as though I MUST be getting results or be performing well because of it.
Over last few weeks coaching, Iβve really been focusing mostly on players mentality, a common denominator is βhow muchβ it means to each player to play well! Itβs as though missing should never happen or we fear missing so much.
This is where I felt I have put into practise that feeling of really βnot caringβ as such but mainly just completely detaching from this importance I put on myself to perform well constantly. Simply put, just letting the game pan out how itβs suppose to and controlling the only variable I can β‘οΈ what can βI DOβ to give myself the best chance.
Last night, even though just a flyer event, was the most free on the table I have been and it showed in the results I felt, taking 20 frames and only losing 4 in the whole event.
So if this is something youβre struggling with:
βΎοΈMentality around missing
βΎοΈOver-trying
βΎοΈTemperament when missing
βΎοΈGetting ahead of the game and βlosing / winning before itβs even happened
βΎοΈOpponent getting the run
Pull back and ask yourself, does it really matter all that much?
Take a step-back and realise, your best pool will come from a more calmer, confident and relaxed self.β€οΈ
