Well - I think we had proved ourselves to be supreme soup makers . Quiche bakers and coffee brewers. Always looking for a challenge Soupchick is diving headlong into PIES. Yes - how we longed for ‘comfort food’ as we wilted in the summer heat.
At first sight of autumn - I rolled up my sleeves and rolled out that pastry. Tomorrow’s menu is star studded. And a new star is born - our unctuous Chicken, Leek & Mushroom Pie with a splash of fabulous French vine left from our Carribean food & quiz night. Delish! Also on the menu: 🍲Smoked Haddock Chowder

Beautiful soups tomorrow. How we missed making them due to hot hot heat. Now we’re jumping headlong into what we do best. The ‘summer minestrone with pesto’ leaped at me straight from Feast - the Guadian Saturday food supplement. ‘Tales from the Italian Kitchen’ by Rachel Roddy. Her writing I adore - it takes me to her Roman kitchen just like that! Fresh - tomato-less and fragrant with basil pesto.
On a different note: you know we’re hosting a quiz & Caribbean food event on Thursday? Well - if you didn’t, now you know. One of the teams dropped out, so if anyone is interested - so here is your chance!
