A Proud Day for Shortlands Golf Club
Today, Shortlands Golf Club had the privilege of hosting the Cobnuts, the Society of Kent Lady Captains, for what proved to be a truly memorable occasion.
Despite torrential rain and challenging conditions throughout the day, more than 40 ladies took to the course with remarkable enthusiasm, determination and good humour. The weather may have been relentless, but it certainly did not dampen spirits, with players embracing the occasion and enjoying the warm hospitality and camaraderie that make these events so special.
As a club, we are incredibly proud to have welcomed such a distinguished group of golfers and to have showcased everything that is best about Shortlands Golf Club. Events like these are only possible through the dedication and hard work of so many volunteers, and we would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who played a part in making the day such a success.
Well done to Fran Fearn - SKLC Lady Captain, and her committe for all your hard work. Plus a special congratulations and thank you must go to our own Maggie Collen, Vice Captain of the SKLC, whose tireless efforts, organisation and attention to detail helped ensure the day ran smoothly from start to finish.
Our thanks also go to Club Captain Alan Turner, together with past captains Dave Collen, Ian Smith, Phil Charnley and Barry Neil, who braved the conditions to provide invaluable ball-spotting assistance around the course. Their support was greatly appreciated by all the competitors.
A heartfelt thank you also goes to Barbara for the beautiful floral arrangements, which added a wonderful touch to the clubhouse and helped create a welcoming atmosphere for our guests.
Finally, our gratitude extends to the kitchen team, led by Natalie, whose hard work behind the scenes ensured that everyone was well looked after throughout the day. The excellent food and service were warmly received and contributed greatly to the success of the event. Not forgetting the greenstaff fo making the course look at its best.
Finally a personal "Thank You" from me - I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who attended the event and purchased raffle tickets, raising £150 was for my chosen charity Alzheimer's.
On behalf of everyone at Shortlands Golf Club, thank you to the Society of Kent Lady Captains for choosing to spend the day with us. We were delighted to host you and hope to welcome you back again in the future.
