Scilly Laughs is the brainchild of Jo Jepson-Davies and Julie Jepson. Julie is a regular visitor on Scilly and is keen to bring more entertainment opportunities to the islands. Originally planned as a gig on every island, it was considered slightly too ambitious…where to play on Samson?! So a more modest four date festival was planned. Starting in Penzance, Cornwall with a show each on St Mary’s, Tresco and St Martin’s in June 2015. The festival was a great success in 2015 and a second festival was planned for 2016 adding St Agnes as an additional island, making it the most south westernly comedy festival in the country. With sell out shows, the festival is going from strength to strength and dates have now been confirmed for 2017. FRIDAY 9th JUNE The Acorn, Penzance SATURDAY 10th June The Slip Inn, The Mermaid, St Mary's SUNDAY 11th June Flying Boat Club, Tresco MONDAY 12th June Adam's Fish and Chips, St Martin's TUESDAY 13th June Island Hall, St Agnes The festival is a celebration of comedy. We aim to bring a show of the highest quality to the Scilly Isles for residents and visitors to enjoy. We would love to become an established part of the calendar of events on Scilly in June every year. The festival will feature Julie Jepson as the host and will introduce three top quality comedians from the UK comedy circuit. This year we have Hannah Brackenbury, Richard Vranch and Craig Deeley. The show will deliver over 2.5 hours of comedy whilst raising funds for Cornwall Air Ambulance, the chosen charity for the festival in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
