The Brancaster Brewery

The Brancaster Brewery 5 barrel brewery producing small batches of high quality real ale. Ironically the malthouse was built using bricks salvaged from the nearby Roman fort!

Brancaster Brewery takes its name from Brancaster Staithe, a north Norfolk village steeped in brewing history. Located in the heart of prime barley growing terroir, records show brewing here dates back to Roman times. So great was the demand for barley from this area that reputedly the country's largest malthouse was built in Brancaster in 1797, yards from The Jolly Sailors pub. The staple ales are Brancaster Best 3.8% a refreshing session ale with a touch of citrus on the finish, Malthouse Bitter 4.2% a mid amber ale with malty character with distinct bitterness on the finish. Various seasonal ales are produced during the year including Oystercatcher 4.4% a sunshine golden ale, refreshing and moreish, The Wreck 4.8% a full bodied ale with hints of molasses and sweet coffee Sharpie K12 a hoppy copper coloured bitter - with seasonal guests.
