This room was a joy from start to finish 😊

It started a few months ago with a three hour declutter session with the customer. This art room had a wide-ranging collection of materials and it took every ounce of willpower not to start creating (for both of us 😂)!

We then put a date in the diary for decorating which gave the customer a hard deadline to get the rest of it sorted.

When I arrived for decorating the room was empty and the plan for a functional art room and reading nook was about to be taken to the next stage.

I repaired some loose wallpaper, removed the massive wedges of silicon from skirting board, stain blocked the dark varnished window frame, repaired some cracks in the ceiling and finally the room was ready to paint!

It’s all in the prep.

The painting is the most satisfying bit but only if the prep is good.

Now booking for 2027 so get in touch if you’d like me to come and have a look at your decorating needs.

A quick flip on this piece for home.

I found this dressing table in and used the following process:

Sanded all the old varnish off
Cleaned with white spirit
Applied two coats of Danish Oil
Lined the drawers

Good to go!

Please get in touch if you have any furniture that needs working on. I finally have some space in the workshop schedule!

This is a third piece for this customer and I love working on these pieces.

This is an old set of library shelves that simply needed a bit of love. They’ve been sanded down, treated for woodworm and then varnished with Polyx Oil in Honey and a top coat of clear satin.

All ready to be used again with pride.

If you have any pieces you’d like me to take a look at please get in touch.

Three pieces rescued 😀

A customer got in touch to ask about working on some furniture for her. I popped round and I came home with a beautiful baby chair, a chair with an old cushion on and a wobbly table.

I made the table less wobbly, sanded back and revarnished the baby chair and then went to work on the chair.

We didn’t know why the cushion was on it until I removed it and realised the chair had been stapled. The customer knew we could unearth some former repair but but said she had a cushion on it anyway.

There was a thick black marker line and as well as tac marks there were double staple lines for the foam and material! It became a bit of a personal challenge and every project is a school day!

Once I’d removed (most of) the staples I used the skills I learnt on my furniture repair course to fill the hols and try to match with the surrounding wood as much as possible. You can still see where the line was but it could be worse!

Please get in touch if there are any pieces I can help you with.

This room needed rescuing!

I could’ve taken off all the lining paper but that usually means the walls crumble and you need a plasterer. So I cut out the loose bits of paper. Stuck down the edges that I could and filled with my trusty Mirka to the same level as the rest of the paper.

I filled the gaps between the lining paper and filled cracks here there and everywhere.

The main feature wall was staying put so I re-glued some edges. At times it felt like more of a craft project than a decorating one but I do love a challenge!

The room looks clean, fresh and ready to be used.

I’m now booking for 2027 so get in touch if you have some decorating work that needs doing.

Have you been to the ? I’ve been having a slightly slower summer in terms of decorating (planned 😀) and am trying get some other projects finished (and started)!

I finally made it to and what a treasure trove of wonderful stuff. Perfect if you need inspiration for a project. And everything you buy was unwanted so now won’t go to landfill.

Win win.

If you do go make sure you don’t leave your willpower behind! It’s hard not to buy everything 😂
