Good to see an article about The Rotterdam Bar ( with reference to this page too! )... And yes there are a few inaccuracies in the piece but no one's perfect.

The bar was a hive for bohemians and music lovers in the '80s, '90s and '00s

According to this article here are a number of proposed builds in Belfast City Centre that are expected to be refused planning permission including the proposed build on the site of the Rotterdam Bar - Belfast Telegraph, Thursday 10th November 2016.

Proposals to build a 19-storey apartment block and student accommodation in Belfast are expected to be refused planning permission.

Sam McAughtry - Author & Broadcaster.

24th March 1923 - 28th March 2014.

Sam McAughtry was born in Tiger's Bay & his collections of short stories & tall tales of growing up in working class North Belfast are well worth a read. He also wrote a number of pieces about the Sailortown area; hence this tenuous post!

You can still pick his books up quite easily for £1 or less in Charityshops (where I got these ones) or you can borrow them from your local Library.
