As a small village pub, we love to welcome customers in for a drink and a chat but it seems this time, we have been taken advantage of.

Yesterday evening around 5pm, these two gentleman made their way into the pub, paid for their pints and asked for change. The problem here is that they gave us 4 counterfeit £50 notes so essentially stealing nearly £200 from us.

We only found out about them being counterfeit notes when one of us went to change them at the bank today. You can imagine our surprise after these gents were kind enough to support a local pub.

As we are a small business, it’s tough when people take adavantage of us because we try our best to provide a wonderful experience for everyone who steps through our door yet these two have not only hurt the business by stealing our money but also have hurt everyone who loves the pub as we do.

If you know these gentlemen or have any information, please reach out to us about this or the police. This is also a call to those businesses in and around Banbury to be aware that this is happening and to be vigilant of £50 notes.
