🏌️‍♀️ A fantastic achievement for our ladies at Baxenden Golf Club! 🏌️‍♀️

It was great to see five ladies from Baxenden Golf Club competing in the qualifying round and Mabel Stones Trophy of the Ladies Observer Cup, held last weekend at Rossendale Golf Club.

From our quintet, Sarah Nicholson produced an outstanding performance, not only qualifying for the Finals in September but also winning the Front 9 Competition with an excellent score of 20 points. Sarah narrowly missed out on the Mabel Stones Trophy by just 4 points – a tremendous effort and a credit to the club!

Our Ladies Section continues to go from strength to strength, with increasing numbers enjoying the game and the friendly atmosphere at Baxenden. Whether you're interested in taking up golf for the first time, returning to the game after a break, or looking for a change of club or even a second club membership, we have a range of membership options and offers to suit all.

We are also delighted to announce that the Observer Trophy will be hosted by Baxenden Golf Club in 2027, and we look forward to welcoming players from across the region to our course.

⛳ BAXENDEN GOLF CLUB OPEN – CANCELLED ⛳

Unfortunately, due to low entry numbers, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our President & Captain's Open scheduled for Sunday 14th June.

We are extremely disappointed to have to take this step and would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. We hope to reschedule this event later in the year and will announce details as soon as possible.

Any visitors who had booked to play will be contacted directly and offered a complimentary round of golf on the day as a gesture of goodwill and to compensate for the late cancellation.

Members who had invited guests are still welcome to play, and their guests may play free of charge. To book your preferred tee time, please contact the Competitions Team at:

🏆 Baxenden Golf Club – June Medal Results 🏆

Despite a reduced field due to the Captain's Trip and some truly awful weather, those who played battled the conditions and produced some excellent scores.

🥇 1st Place – Adam Gray – 70-1-69
🥈 2nd Place – Peter Cotton – 96-26-70
🥉 3rd Place – Chris Shepherd – 88-18-70

Congratulations to all the prize winners, especially Adam on an outstanding performance to take both the June Medal and Best Gross honours.

Finally, thank you to everyone who braved the conditions and took part. Despite the weather, it was great to see so many members supporting the competition.

I was going to begin this post with 'Devastating news.." and yes it is sad but I want to flip this around and concentrate on the positive. One of our longest serving members in our 113 year history has passed away and like i said it is indeed sad BUT I am going down the lines of that the very popular MR LARRY GLOVER gave everyone he met a feel good factor in his 90 years on our Earth, he was literally everyone's friend and will very much be sorely missed by all, not just at Royal Bash but the entire village and beyond. Larry's golfing life stretched over 7 decades only finally retiring from the game he loved in his late 80s and in that time he has seen friends come and go and now it's our time, with a heavy heart, to say farewell to our friend who will leave us with so many happy memories, God bless you, Sir.
Larry's funeral will be held on Tuesday 30th June at St John's Baxenden at 11.30 before his final resting place at Haslingden Cemetery on Grane Road before a gathering back at the club afterwards. Typically Larry didn't want a fuss, so please attend in smart casual attire with no ties as per his wishes. He definitely wouldn't want us there with a frown, so bring your smile with you and give him the send off he so richly merits. R.I.P. Larry, our deepest condolences to Barbara and family.

52 I nearly said golfers descended on Hawkestone Park on Friday and Saterday and what a couple of days it was! The weather was kind, the hotel and food was great and both courses were amazing. We have managed to secure a sponsor for next year's event, Grovener Casinos have just realised how much they could make!!
We will also be introducing a crech for the ones that just could not keep thier little eyes open!!
A massive thanks has to go to our Captain David Clegg for organising such a fantastic trip and for all the extras he did over the two days, absolutely brilliant. You can take the boys out of Baxenden but you can't take Baxenden out if the boys!! Top trip, top lads, top club!!

Just a heads up there will be no summer league on Fri 3rd July as we have an open competition that day. Bookings can be made for this via BRS or the website.
