Happy International Picpoul de Pinet Day!
Vibrant, zesty, dry and saline with orchard fruits and citrus, the white wines from the Languedoc appellation of are shaped by the seaside and are perfectly matched with the freshest of seafood and shellfish.
There’s another, more complex side too, defined by ‘Patience’ on the label. With lees contact, some bottle age and sometimes subtle oak, these wines can take on dishes like roast chicken and creamy sauces.

Another fun evening at exploring the New Zealand expression of classic grapes.
The overall favourite white was the expressive Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc 2025.
It was a tie between the Rua Pinot Noir 2022 from Central Otago and Trinity Hill ‘The Gimblett’ 2020, a Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot for the favourite red🍷🍇
I think some hands went up twice 😂
Big thanks to everyone who came along 🥂

My Languedoc base last week was the historic town of Pezenas and the Hotel Distillerie de Pezenas, a converted former distillery a short 5 minutes stroll from the winding cobbles of the old town.
Plenty of artisan craft shops, boutiques and antique shops to wander around and I managed to catch the bustling Saturday market too.

The final evening of Terroirs & Millesimes 2026 was spent amongst the vines at the summer pop up Le Chene restaurant.
A delicious end to a week packed full of tastings and experiences shared with a lovely bunch of people- old pals and new!
Thank you to all the wine makers who share their wines, knowledge and passion and to and ladies from for their organisation.
So many memories🥂🍇🍷😎

This is the stunning AOP of and I can’t imagine a better location for a geology lesson courtesy of Loic Ducarme.
From alluvial terraces, to scree, Jurassic limestone, sandstone and schist combined with elevation, the region has a range of micro-climates all influencing the final wines.
The garrigue scent is intense as we leave the cars that transported up to the plateau I enjoyed the stroll back down.
The appellation is currently for red wines based on Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah so amongst the pine trees bent by prevailing winds, we tasted white wines from neighbouring appellations alongside some local goodies whilst a car rally passed by.

Moody skies over the small AOP of Faugeres which takes in just 7 villages and produces mainly red wines but I can highly recommend the rose and white wines too!
The show vineyard featured rows of the main grapes of the region- Grenache Noir, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Lledoner Pelut, Marsanne and Rolle and it’s interesting to see the different stages of development and characteristics of each vine. There’s also chat about the development of a new disease resistant variety Bouquet.
Thank you .faugeres for an enlightening and rather tasty visit🍇🍷!
