Back at my favourite lunch spot Gallery 48
A selection of Cava by the glass, great Spanish w**e list and very good tapas. 🇪🇸In the bottle, Garnacha Blanca from Bodegas Paniza in the DO of Carinena.
Popped into the Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA) for a Pina Colada on the way back to the station. Not a cocktail that I order very often as they can be too sweet but this went down a treat🍹

Bringing some Languedoc sunshine into a distinctly Autumn day.
Expressive peach and apricot, mid weight and mineral with a touch of honey and a lime twist.
Paired with honey and mustard glazed salmon and a warm potato salad.
Why it works…
The forward fruit intensity of Viognier takes on the heat of the mustard and links with the honey element of the glaze.

It’s always a good night when The W**e Society comes to town 🥂
Fun to catch up w**e lovers and try an eclectic selection of w**es with Autumn in mind.
An orange w**e line up was an opportunity to compare the styles. If you are still not sure about the style, Ame des Pres, Vin de France is a good starting point.
My faves included:
🇮🇹Timorasso Derthona, La Colombera 2024 from Piemonte (white flowers, pear, almond, mineral, texture)
🇫🇷Domaine La Bastidas, Les Figues 2024, a southern Rhone blend and great value. (Ripe red berry and cherry, full and savoury)
🇱🇧Sept W**ery Cuvee du Soleil 2022, Tempranillo Cab Sauv blend from Lebanon. (Perfumed Red fruit, structure, savoury, herb and spice)🍇🍷

A brilliant final visit to Nino Franco Prosecco hosted by Primo Franco and daughter Silvia with expressive w**es and a great insight into the region past and present.
Said hello to vines more than a century old and found a forgotten bunch of Glera grapes. The harvest across the region is already in, a couple of weeks earlier than usual.

The hives amongst the vines at Bortolomiol | Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG are part of the Bees Project
After a great tasting through their w**e range there was also chance to try the honey.
The palest is acacia, then wildflower (my favourite) and the darkest- chestnut which paired so well with a mature cheese.

Levantine de Musar 2024, Bekaa Valley, Lebanon 🇱🇧
An unoaked blend of Cinsault, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Think fruits of the forest, red cherry and cinnamon. There’s a freshness from growing grapes at 1000 metres above sea level and a little grip to the tannin which softens alongside chimichurri steak and extra mature cheddar mash!

Pentagon shaped Cartizze is a designated protected PDO sub zone area within the Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG.
Traditionally, w**es of the region have more residual sugar and are in the Dry/ extra dry style.
At COLESEL we also taste their excellent extra brut Tridik Quota 430 from the highest vineyard in the zone and the equally delicious Prato Scuro Brut, both 100% Glera.
